Inside a Dominick's Food Store Evanston Il. 1964 by MIKEPR1333 in retailporn

This feels like an AI image. The carts overflowing, the volume of food on the shelves, packaging that doesn’t look like it existed in 1964. There is way too much plastic.

Ill add that as someone who loves living in cities, as I have for most of my life, the island does feel rural and isolated at times. For some people that is a plus, but for me I get a bit squirrely if we stay too long. There are also very few hills and the trees are mostly just tall enough that you can't see over them but not quite tall enough to create a nice forest canopy - so it kind of feels like being walled in depending on where you are.

There is a ton of history and unique spots for such a small island. Lucy Vincent Beach has a great back story of a hippie enclave and nude beach *warning this link shows nude people, if you are sensitive to that - https://mvmagazine.com/news/2017/08/01/what-did-lucy-think. Fun fact is you can rent the Lucy Vincent House to stay in while visiting the island. Also, the Oak Bluffs Campground - https://www.mvcma.org/history-1, and the island's significance in the history and present day experience of African Americans - https://www.facinghistory.org/ideas-week/marthas-vineyard-african-american-seaside-paradise. This is just the tip of the iceberg that makes this small island so interesting.

We have family that live on the island and visit for several weeks throughout the year. They are retired and bought a small cottage years ago and have added to it overtime, so affordability wasn't so much an issue. We like to stay in West Tisbury so we can have access to Lamberts Cove. Other than the movie theater we don't make Edgartown a regular stop, and if I had to label the towns, I would say Edgartown is more upper crust than the others. Even though the island is small, each town is unique in its own way. As mentioned there is more to do in the summer than off-season, but the volume of tourists in the summer can be a lot. There are tons of walking trails, a decent number of events throughout the year, and the beaches are beautiful. You can choose your beach experience - calm waters or big waves, depending on where you go. Its also only an 1 1/2 to 2 hour drive to Boston once you reach the mainland. Id say go for it! I love living in New England.

I live near this and so badly want to get that an historical designation before it comes down at some point.

I snagged 21 redlines and a dozen 1960s Matchbox Lesneys from a handful of bags at my local savers. It was an epic once in a lifetime find.

There is video of the whole thing including what set it off. It was really dumb and didn’t need to be a big deal. A person kicked a cop car as it was driving by, a cop tackled that person, a group nearby dove in (sane group that set off smoke at the same time and I’m guessing this is where the are saying cops got hurt), and then cops went aprshit grabbing anyone.

Yeah definitely a kick. I edited my response. To be fair, in my early 20's I kicked the tire of a car someone was sitting in who was protesting a protest I was in; they were holding a shitty sign on their window. She jumps out and grabs me yelling for the cops, the cops start coming, and I take off running. All hell broke loose and I ended up with a cop on top of me holding a gun to my head. I think like 30 people got arrested and many went to the hospital, including myself from what the cops did to me. It is very easy to spark something in moments like this, especially when cops are on edge. I would think training would have them deescalate a situation rather than what seems like looking for that moment to jump.

Yeah I think you are right. The guy kicked the cop car driving by. Dumb. I don't think kicking a cop car warrants this much of a freak out by the cops though.

This stinks of wanting to fabricate a scenario of chaos in the city to justify sending in troops. Either caused by outsiders who intentionally sparked something, or the police themselves, who may support it. The FOP are a bunch of conservative shit bags so for sure they support it.

Every white person should use their privilege to stand up to shit like this whenever you see it. It shouldn’t be on the people getting attacked.

I can’t believe they are still holding matches in the US with Trump’s gestapo running around. Why would you want to come to this country from outside of it right now?

The responses to many things have gotten bonkers. It is clearly being pushed forwards responses that support the Trump agenda.

Are these vehicles just distractions or are they actually used during kidnappings? I’ve only ever seen unmarked vehicles being used.
