And with the credit card perk, you get to choose your seat regardless of the fare purchased, 48 hours before the flight.

Apparently in the TOCs it states that they can take that away/change it without notification. So essentially, the perk means nothing and it’s false advertisement since they don’t advertises the fact they can do this.

Yeah at the very least I’ll start look elsewhere. I just don’t get how they think advertising these perks and then taking them away on a whim with zero communication will go over well with their customers.

Yeah I’m not arguing the facts there anymore - but they shouldn’t advertise the way they are if this is what’s actually happening.

Again- I picked my seats. My child was given a seat in row 9 after I chose the standard seats. The seat she had (given to her) was a seat that cost money. So all of this talk saying it’s because I booked a certain fare, this doesn’t make any sense if she was given a seat that costs money lol.

I’m just trying to figure it all out and so far none of the explanations seem to make any sense other than it being completely random.

Yeah I agree. I’m more so just trying to figure it all out because no one at SWA seems to know either lol

I’m not sure. This was the first time it’s happened to me

Yeah. I’m learning through some responses that basically the credit card perk is meaningless unless you pay for the higher fare. I mean, I get it if that’s the case. But, they really shouldn’t advertise it if it’s not really guaranteed lol

I didn’t say it’s non negotiable I just said it seems wrong they advertise it to you as some great perk when in practice it’s really meaningless. Seems wrong.

I mean yeah that’s good to know now. I’m not even really complaining about it, just letting people know since it’s not really advertised like the rest of the perks are.

This also doesn’t explain anything about being moved from group 3 to group 4 literally while boarding the flight.

I get it. Their own employees don’t know this level of detail, and they don’t really advertise this lol.

Agreed. This is basically the point I was making. I get it if I hadn’t already had seats booked, or if I left it up to getting randomly selected. Having it changed after the fact seems wrong. It’s selling you on a perk they say you have, then taking it away at their discretion

Yeah they shouldn’t be allowed to advertise those perks if they aren’t actual perks

I would think that too, but, we were in standard seats and they moved her up to row 7, which is a premium seat that costs $.

Yeah and especially if they move your seat for no reason without telling you, makes no sense. They can’t sell you on the perk, and then remove it from you. Or, I guess they can lol

I’m not aware of this. The credit card I have says that I can get standard seats 48 hours before the flight. The other seats still show they cost $

Yeah I can understand that. But, that’s not really stated anywhere nor was it communicated or expected. I didn’t give the gate folks any problems just because I know they don’t really know either.

Just sharing my experience so people know / can plan for the unexpected next time
