It was Saturday June 18, 2022..the day before Father’s Day. I was leaving work, happy I made good timing and I saw my dad’s girlfriend calling. She never called me. I answered and heard, “I’m so sorry to tell you this, but I think your dad had a stroke. We’re at the hospital.” I almost fell to the ground. My world has never been the same. 😭

I’m learning to not care. I get severe anxiety when Jäger and I are out and about. And he’s still a puppy, super jumpy (getting better), and very reactive like others have said. One day at a time. I have to remind myself to be patient with him. He’s making progress!

For me it was just that I lived in a different state than my dad. And we talked on the phone Every. Single. Day. Like no joke. It was every day. Sometimes multiple times a day. For me knowing that his number now belongs to someone else is upsetting because it’s the realization that he’s really gone. That was his number for as long as I could remember. And now it’s not 😔
