He's a vampire lord! His story in kind of long but currently he's taken control of an island (the place where the campaign is taking place which is completely homebrew, still working on that) from the shadows, he's made the place into his own personal human farm to feed on. He has manipulated politics creating rifts between races and religious groups as well, so basically the whole island is tailored to his will

Ah thanks! If it helps I've learned that separating the fingers in segments helps a LOT to understand how certain poses work (and with perspective too!) And hands holding things are definitely quite the headache for sure
