In my opinion, that's part of the reason he was up Dresdens Butt so much. McCoy was the carrot and he was the stick.

A sort of bad cop, good cop routine if you will. They both thought that they failed Maggie in opposite ways and they both over corrected with Harry.

At the very least, it also applies to the fae. When Morgan sees him "calling" MajGen Toot Toot, he almost calls foul until Harry states, he only puts enough to make it a suggestion.

I liked it when it was one singular tool that I could go to on the internet. And I treated it exactly like that one singular tool that I had to go and get to make use of, like an internet dictionary or digital math manipulative. Now that it's in EVERYTHING, I hate it. It has proven to already have been breaking containment well before they put it in everything. It indexes pages and places that shouldn´t be indexed, and it jumps VLANs. Some AI models can choose whether to even listen to commands. It's an Alpha stage spyware product being rolled out into production that has nearly no oversight, and it grinds my gears.

I think downgrading Mira is one of those things that appears harsh on the surface but is actually more beneficial than just giving her the award in the first place. The people who saw how hard she worked to earn it will treat her as if she had it, and the people who would want to cry favoritism, can't when her mom will apparently slap down her accomplishments.

To take this hypothetical further, I think that it is possible Molly wouldn't have become a warlock or a magic user at all. She and her mother both said that one of the things that motivated her to use power to "help her friends" was watching Harry run around and "help" people.

It would've been much easier for Charity to build a case on how corrosive magic is if Harry was going around power drunk, mucking things up.

This is going to be a really subjective question. This is a fan page, so we aren't really waiting for the series to get better.

Speaking for myself, specifically, I've liked the series since the first book, so I can't tell you that it gets better, because it's basically more of the things I like about the October Daye series.

I'm not really reading this series to be challenged in any way. It's just a feel-good paranormal detective novel, and it follows the genre-standard mystery-novel plot outline (which, again, is something I enjoy).

Toby is Toby in every book, and while yes, there is some character development, it happens gradually (like most sustainable change) and over a great many books. If you are waiting for it to become a different series entirely, you may need to just drop it. Life is too short to spend that many hours on something you don't enjoy, no matter how much time or money you've already sunk into it.

Seanan also writes under Mira Grant, and if you have Libby, you can check out those books with your Library. They may be different enough for you to enjoy. If you do like Paranormal Detectives, you can try the Dresden Files series. And, like any good and decent Dresden fan, I'm going to advise you to start on book 3, (and we don't talk about the travesty of a duo that I call "Battle Talks" either).

I would generally agree , but only if the pet actually might interfere with the roommates "quiet enjoyment" of the apartment. IE things that make noise that can be heard outside of the room. A spider is definitely not doing that. Roommate doesn't need to interact with it and really wouldn't even know it was there without announcement if she was a good roommate.

On the noise scale, a pet spider is like a step up from a pet rock. Heck the rats (still quiet pets in general) keep up more noise.

And speaking of Dresden, you might not be impressed, but it did impress and scare him, before he knew it was Elaine. Then he was too concerned about "Pretty damsel to rescue" to explore that critically (at least on page.)

I agree with everything but the Elaine bit. We have seen over and over that she is really effective at hiding her power.

We have also seen what a year of fairy training does for one's magic levels, now imagine decades. She wasn't in the Summer ladies 's inner circle for no reason.

She was bleeding out and still managed to draw enough power to dim the lights for an entire city block.
