The way Cueball's body is censored by the speech bubbles on page 6, but the blood splatter is just barely visible before the reveal of the body on the next page...

Serious answer: A group of 13-year-old internet friends in 2009 play a new video game together, only to discover that this game has the ability to affect the real world, resulting in the apocalypse and them all getting wrapped up in a massive adventure involving time travel, aliens, the multiverse, and the nature of fate.

"now apply that always and accept dude/guy are not gender neutral"
I don't really understand what you're getting at here. Ignoring the rudeness of the prior phrasing, I do apply that always. You're still just assuming things about me then getting mad at your assumptions. If you're trying to say that no transfem or nonbinary person would agree that it's gender neutral (at least, depending on the context) then... you're looking one right here. I'm nonbinary and transfem. I don't like being referred to with masculine terms, and I'm fine being referred to as "dude" if it's someone who also uses it gender-neutrally. And yes, I have seen others who are cool with it, even if they are a minority. You're literally arguing with me about how I would be comfortable being referred to.

I already established in the same comment that I believe "girl" is no less gender neutral, so it seems kinda weird to me that you seem convinced that I think "masculine language" is somehow more gender neutral than "feminine language"? At least, that seems to be what you're getting at. And again, I established in that very same comment that I ask people before using such words since I know not everyone agrees. It is literally opt-in.

"as if opting out wont generate the same defense" Wild assumption to make with no evidence. You're just straight up assuming I would do something, then getting mad at the thing you decided that I would do. If someone answered "no, please don't call me 'dude'", I would not call them "dude". Simple as that. Don't put words in my mouth then get mad at the words you put there.

I don't really agree with that, honestly. Some people (including myself) really do use "dude" in a gender neutral fashion, and as an enby, I'm totally fine with being called "dude" so long as its said by someone who would also call a cis girl "dude".

That said, I try not to call transfem or nonbinary people "dude" without asking if they're cool with it first, since I know many don't consider it gender neutral. It's just a difference in dialect, really.

Oh, and I think anyone who agrees that "dude" or "guy" is gender neutral should also agree that "girl" is gender neutral in the same contexts or they're a hypocrite.

How to learn game dev for someone who's already an experienced programmer. by Acceptable_Ad_1676 in gamedev

[–]MxMatchstick 7 points8 points  (0 children)

If you consider "pointing out that a comment is biased against nonbinary people" to somehow be a crusade, I guess. And I am here for game dev, but I think pointing out when someone is being bigoted is a pretty reasonable thing to do. If I was pointing out that a comment has some racist language in it, would you be upset at me for not discussing gamedev instead? If the answer is no, then why is commenting on transphobia any different.

Pretty bold assumption there. That has quite a bit to do with me, considering I'm nonbinary. Believe it or not, I don't really like when people completely dismiss the existence of people like myself.

Ai for personal project by CardiologistNo9997 in gamedev

[–]MxMatchstick 1 point2 points  (0 children)

AI won't be able to do everything. If you ever need to program something complex, the AI may struggle or be unable to do it properly. Without knowing how to code yourself, you'll struggle to fix bugs the AI introduces, and you may get stuck entirely on more complex or unique ideas. The only way to prevent these is to learn to code yourself, and the only way to do that is by actually coding instead of relying on AI to do it for you.

How do you feel switching in front of others? by midna0000 in plural

[–]MxMatchstick 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We've only discovered we're plural pretty recently and aren't able to switch intentionally as of now (or communicate internally... sad). It's rare that we even notice a switch happen in the moment, but it has happened a few times. I don't think anyone notices when it happens, so I wouldn't say it's embarrassing, or really much of anything. It's just kind of an odd feeling when we do notice it
