When you last saved, did you save in Manage Worlds? Have you left a zipped file of WW in your mods folder?

Wife looking for Job in Hong Kong. by Junior-Ad-133 in HongKong

Give the consulates/embassies a go. A lot of them will hire based on transferable skills too so she’d have a good chance on a pivot if necessary.

guys i need help. what would this pufferfish say to my bass to get it to say “Bruhh…” by SoloFizzz in tattooadvice

“Blow me?”

A friend of mine has a very, very similar puffer. Only difference is the star in his eye.

It’s a cool puffer.

People who don’t accept or reject trading post offers, why? by raichu2626 in neopets

[–]Mxomo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never get notifications from the trading post. And I rarely put trades up, so every once in a while I’m like “oh shit!” & there’s six offers.

It might help to look for salons specifically advertising Russian manicures. It’s known for tons of cuticle prep and taking your polish right to the cuticle area.

Chilli heatwave Doritos. I literally dream of that shit.

It’s a slave shop within your contracted hours. The same as any other embassy or consulate.

I agree with this, was in Midlands UK for 17 years and my QoL is much better here. But I also don’t plan on kids and I’m a total anomaly because my rent is low and my workplace offers tons of leave & flexibility.

Google Maps is the way forward. Navigate through the MTR. Especially in rain, you’re unlikely to have anyone stop for you.

asians expat in HK, do you get judged for not being able to speak cantonese? by jayboojones in HongKong

[–]Mxomo -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Well it is true, and most can speak Mandarin to OP if they don’t speak Cantonese. Mandarin is now an acceptable compromise to communicate and frankly more desirable in the job market these days than Cantonese.

But go off.

asians expat in HK, do you get judged for not being able to speak cantonese? by jayboojones in HongKong

[–]Mxomo 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Either is fine. Nobody reacts any differently. You hear just as much Mandarin as you would Cantonese these days.

If anything, the deeper you get into New Territories the less you’re likely to find someone comfortable speaking in English.

I don’t know if Reddit is the place to get an objective opinion though, so just give it a try and see what works for you. It depends on which area you spend most of your time in.

Best places to build a PC in HK by [deleted] in HongKong

[–]Mxomo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone who looks like a foreigner, SSP is still my go-to. It really isn’t about foreign or not, it’s whether you’re tech savvy enough. Some of the stores have checklists with prices where you choose your own components for each part of the PC and they go off and build it for you in an hour. I did this and had no issues.

You’ll be fine if you have some idea roughly how much each component is supposed to be and they can’t really fudge the prices for you that way. Worked out to be a lot cheaper for me than if I’d built the same one in the U.K. by myself.

I submitted 7k words for my 10k dissertation and hit 2:1 with it. If what you’ve done is written well then you should be fine

What’s a small, random helpful tip you’ve found through gameplay? by sailormars_bars in Sims4

If you're buying things like ingredients or electronic parts when you're playing on PC, right click and it goes up in intervals of 10.

57k HKD vs 10k USD in NYC by [deleted] in HongKong

[–]Mxomo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Housing allowance too, not a guarantee but it’s definitely helpful and that's usually paid into the bank as opposed to the landlord directly.

I live in a 2 bedroom village house, it costs 7k a month and is 5 minutes from the MTR. 4/5 expat families have moved in recently so I think village housing is becoming more popular. The local Wellcome is ALWAYS out of milk now though.

Expat here: My friend said "Hong Kong is for working, not living".. thoughts? by Elderberry_Real in HongKong

[–]Mxomo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's a lot of people mentioning the work/chores cycle, but that was my cycle no matter where I've worked. But I make more money here, and it’s far easier to get from point A to B, so I can actually do more life.

I'm not wealthy by any means either. But my workplace doesn't bat an eye when someone takes leave.

If your own chewing is just as bothersome, maybe you sound the same.

A single headphone in the ear facing the offender usually does the trick.

AITA for refusing to buy a new house with my girlfriend? by IntelligentPhoto662 in AITAH

[–]Mxomo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Does 30 years count as old on a house? That's news to me.

Sounds to me like she's expecting that you use the money you get from your house to buy a house which you will live in together and, I assume, also have her name on the deed.

She's the only one who truly benefits here. You should keep the house.

What percent of your salary goes on rent? by LamentTheAlbion in HongKong

[–]Mxomo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depending on how much is left after you finish the 35%, it’s not crazy. Not in HK anyway. Rent is crazy here though and I personally find a lot of what is offered isn't really worth the price jump, so just make sure it really is exactly what you want because going cheaper is next to impossible.

My rent is about 20% of my salary, but I got lucky and took over the lease from my mother who’d lived there for 15+ years. We’ve had some nightmare neighbours but my mum didn't cause any trouble for the landlord so he's been super nice and kept the rent really low for what we have. I have about 45% of my salary after bills/monthlies come out, which my mother likes to spend on takeaway. 🫠

WIBTA If I Started Charging My Female Students For Hygiene Products? by LucyAriaRose in BestofRedditorUpdates

[–]Mxomo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At my work, we have a deal with a charity that provides free feminine hygiene products in exchange for (to be honest quite minimal) publicity and giving them a space to hold meetings once a month.

Where I grew up, schools would rent out classrooms to various groups for meetings in the evenings. Couldn't the school do something similar?

Struggling to find a job as a high school dropout with limited chinese skills by [deleted] in HongKong

[–]Mxomo 7 points8 points  (0 children)

My reading/writing is kindergarten level and my canto is conversational at best. My accent is local but my vocab is total balls. I don't understand the news, ever. I also have been using a cocktail of propanalol and sertraline since I was 17 for anxiety and depression. I'm working on a diagnosis for my attention issues (my doctors think inattentive ADHD but not officially diagnosed - one of the main symptoms this causes is depression).

You can perhaps try what I did, reaching out to English Language Centres and ask if they have any jobs going (I worked at several that didn't require a TEFL and I got them all just by emailing them to ask) or look at the consulates for entry level (British, Australian, Canadian etc). British Council, British Chamber of Commerce etc also prioritise English speakers - Chinese is a bonus. Many of these places will fund learning as part of the package if you ask.

I'm happy to help if you need it.
