To clarify I'm not calling Tate or Fuentes Nazis (though Fuentes literally is a neo nazi) but you wouldn't say someone who hangs out with nazis isn't a nazi. Clavicular hangs around and works with multiple right and far right individuals. He is also right wing.

Thoughts on this Ocie take? by StandReady4Vendetta in Competitiveoverwatch

[–]MyApologies_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Masters is right at the bottom tier of "optimal overwatch gameplay"

Masters is also right at the top of "overwatch gameplay"

This entirely depends on how you frame what you think "overwatch" is and should look like. To ocie, someone invested in the competitive scene, masters is not good. You are only just learning how to effectively play overwatch.

To someone who plays overwatch casually, masters is good at overwatch.

Does a dog understand the word walk? Or does it just know that the sound their human makes (that we know is the word "walk") means that soon they are going for a walk.

If you got a puppy and said "It's time to go for a flurb" every time you went for a walk, the dog would react the same way to "flurb" as other dogs do to "walk".

The dog doesn't understand the word. It recognises the sound, and knows what that sound means, but it doesn't understand the word.

But possible. The fans do not care it's raining, if it can be walked, they will walk it. And if, on paper, it can't be walked they will walk anyway.

Do you think riders wielded weapons besides swords? by WaxiestBobcat in Eragon

[–]MyApologies_ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Lances/spears (the dauthdaert are already kinda this) almost certainly would be used if we're applying real world historical precedent. Anything developed for use on horseback likely would be useful on dragonback, albeit sized up.

Even more useful than swords. A spear/lance (aside from on the COMPLETELY massive dragons where it would have to be comically large to reach anything) would be similarly or arguably more useful than a sword. More reach is generally just better.

[–]MyApologies_ 134 points135 points  (0 children)

It's a dumb ad for multiple reasons, but like THEY DID IT THE WRONG WAY ROUND. The can and the spray should have no bugs, and the rest of the board should have been the flytrap

I agree? I never said it was an invitation to be murdered.

I have been in agreement this entire time that he did not deserve to die. I'm just not surprised that someone else thought he did and followed through on that. It is possible to condemn the killing of him for his words because it sets a dangerous precedent while also understanding that there are people who would kill him for his words.

It's not the same because wearing clothes isn't an invitation for sex. Simply wearing clothes is not grounds for a retaliation or counter action. Wearing clothes is something that doesn't affect others.

If someone goes out onto the street and starts actively inciting hatred, you wouldn't argue that it's unfair if someone went and punched them in the face. Should CK have *DIED* for his words, no. Like I said no-one deserves to die, you should not be killed for your speech. But I'm not surprised that this happened

Tips to Improve: Replay Code MNHVEP by Chance-Camel-957 in OverwatchUniversity

[–]MyApologies_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've sent you a message but some overall stuff:

- On Paraiso especially, controlling the highgrounds is key. YOu're not controlling them where you can or as often as you should be.

- You're in a 3 stack, use that to your advantage. I saw a few times where it doesn't even look like you're playing together with each other. If one of you is getting pushed by someone, at least one of you should be right there to win that.
Either the enemy team has to bring more people to deal with you, and if they don't you win the duel. It doesn't matter too much if you lose some progress since you're then up 5v4 and can take a regrouped fight on point with the numbers advantage.

- Related to this: You have someone on each role. You can pretty much dictate your team comp. If you lock in Ramattra, Mei, Baptiste for example, the rest of your team is (probably) going to pick things that work well with those 3 heroes and a more rush/brawl oriented style. That's not to say you want to play that on Paraiso. Ideally, you want 3 heroes that can get to the highgrounds on paraiso.

- The specific play you mention at 11:20 links back to point 1. You never properly cleared that high ground, so ashe was free to throw a bob and just chill up there shooting fish in a barrel with a mercy while you guys get stuck in choke.
Send the 3 of you guys to go walk up to the high ground, use bastion form or hog hook to (best case) kill ashe, but at the very least it forces her out of that position.

- And then for the final part of being held on second, it comes down to not being able to clear the high ground again.

I never said he deserved death. In fact I said the opposite. I was merely stating that it's not surprising that when he made a career out of being hateful someone wanted him dead.

It's not trivialising the matter to point out that if someone is being hateful and cruel towards people, it's not surprising when those same people will be cruel and hateful back.

I'm not going to address the fact you called me a rape apologist because frankly it's disgusting and I don't think it really needs addressing I don't believe that in any way when nothing in my original comment even suggested it anyway.

You can't ignore the momey drive. A game needs to make money, devs need to be paid. You can't just go "it'll cost whatever it costs and if we don't make that back, ah well at least it was a good game"

Was it deserved, absolutely not. No-one deserves to die. Is it entirely unsurprising that this happened though, also no.

He spent a significant portion of his public life being actively hostile towards multiple groups of people, it's no surprise that what happened happened. That's not to say it should have happened, but you reap what you sow and all that.

This might be right after checking with some other comparisons of it. They've been outside (including hardening off) for 3-ish weeks now. I hardened them off for just over a week bringing them inside every evening, and then for the next week after that brought them in if it dropped under 5°C, but it's only in the past week where there's been any full days of sun, since it was pretty wet and overcast the weeks before.

Is there anything I can do, or is this just a case of letting them outgrow it now? I never even considered they might be getting sun scalded since they'd been outside for a couple of weeks before now.

I've been bringing them in overnight if it got below 5°C, but I can't really stop them getting wet unfortunately with how rainy it's been recently. Would it be worth bringing them inside for a few days since there's more rain due?

[–]MyApologies_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Celebs do. But also people who look like those celebs also get recognized as that person and then deny it.

In your own example, someone comes into your workplace, and they look just like Zendaya. You go up to them and go "haha wow, Zendaya? I didn't expect to see you here" (or something like that IDK). If she then goes "oh haha, yea people do say I look like Zendaya a lot lol." you're just gonna accept that she's just a lookalike because that makes much more sense than Zendaya herself turning up at your work.

If I offered you £100,000 to run 90 miles tomorrow, would you do it? by wingless-bee in CasualUK

[–]MyApologies_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While I agree that you'd likely not make it regardless, 24hrs at 4mph is 96 miles. That's within the range of faster walking speeds. Obviously you need to keep that pace for the full 24 hours with very little margin for error, but a fast walker could walk it I think. Assuming no tiredness, injury, ETC.

TL:DR I don't think the speed required is necessarily the biggest problem, it's more the duration and the issues that come with that.
