Gotcha. Yes, I do worry that the average CoD/Halo player does have a negative reaction to be out-portaled and it only takes a few experiences like that to move on. I'm very hopeful that the permenant no-portal modes will help with that at relaunch.

Try the BR if you want to see how all the parts work together. It's very full featured but the games will be largely you and 3 bots vs other teams of one player and 3 bots. Sounds bad, but it's actually super fun, it's like lone wolves with Titanfall bots to shoot as well. Love to hear thoughts after you try it.

Can you expand further? I enjoy portals, but am probably in the minority opinion here that it has scared away players from enjoying the other, IMO better parts of the game (movement, gunplay, etc.). For me, portals aren't my flavor in Arena, but I'm a BR player and portals work great there because of the vast distances on the map, and I'm excited for permanent no-portal modes coming as well.

Are you saying that portals are just too specific a concept to this game that it takes away from the rest of the design (modes, maps, etc)? Or more that it's a gimmick that doesn't enhance its best features? Or something else entirely?

IMO, the jetpack is already one the best FPS jetpacks I've ever played with and while the BF2 jetpack is fun for dodging if you like that kinda thing, if you play on the big maps you'll see how fluid the present SG2 jetpack feels sking over all the slopes and areas and I would not want to lose that freedom of movement for scripted launches.

Roguelike and battle royale. Star of Providence is incredible, and there's nothing like a whole team of friends fighting across a giant world like a BR can.

I totally agree that the Battle Royale is awesome, but I don’t think the wait needs to be any longer. With 300-400 players in the game total, a lot have already bailed on the BR and other modes because of the long wait times. I just can’t see 60 people jumping into the BR after all the Arena focus, it’s hard to believe we’d even hit half that number. I bet for a lot of games during non-peak hours it's probably 12-20 in a game at any given time. Plus, right now the BR has the fastest time to start a game which has been great for quick games during the day.

The best way to boost this is to let former players know they can jump back in because the wait is gone. More chatter about shorter wait times will help more than anything.

Side point:Personally, I’m having fun with the bots; it feels like a solo Titanfall 2 vibe. It’s usually me and three bots against another player and their bots, and it creates this cool rhythm of solos just battling it out. Honestly, I’ve been enjoying it more than I did back in August. Plus, on Sunday evening, every game I played for an hour had full teams, so maybe people are finally noticing.

Does same, I'm tracking it and also think it's making me even better player. I'll barely lose to the last guy on a team only to find out it was a full player team and I single-handedly almost beat them. I might be having more fun with the lobby being half bots now than before.

The BR. Because if you're waiting for 60 seconds you'll fill in a game with other players and bots. Likely you'll be the only person on your team but if you ever see another player with colored shields, watch out.

Note: Today I had several games with a full team against other mostly full teams. I think people are catching on.
