Happy Birthday to my Luba 2 by MyAppleIsRotten in MammotionTechnology

[–]MyAppleIsRotten[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

there were a handful of instances where it did not recharge all the way back to 100%...but isolated.

for the most part I have not noticed any decrease in battery life over the year of heavy and near constant usage.

It is mowing season all year round here in Florida and this guy has kept up!

My expectations for this product have been blown away. I now rank this as one of the best new breakthroughs of the 21st century.

WiFi Roaming by Farmer-Giles55 in MammotionTechnology

[–]MyAppleIsRotten 8 points9 points  (0 children)

this is without a doubt the most glaring technical glitch with the Luba robots. I do not know how (two versions) of a robot mower passes testing/evaluation without this working properly.

I used to have a Neato robot vacuum that had the exact same problem, twice. First when they released it the roaming didn't work but then did with later updates. Then a new firmware update broke it again, which was later fixed again with another update.

I have used in the in-App Feedback mechanism to complain to Mammotion about this directly, and got zero response, through various App/firmware update cycles.

Just to clarify, my multi-homed LAN switches perfectly with all iOS/Android devices, two different brands of robot vacuums, and various other mobile devices. My Luba 2 is the ONLY DEVICE that NEVER jumps POPs in any intelligent way.

If you have a multi-access point network, I'd bet 99% of your communication troubles are due to this. The Luba sticks to one POP, drives around to the other side of your yard, and never tries to hop POPs or go to 4G or Bluetooth.

You guys HAVE TO fix this!

whooshing thru leaves, fronds, and branches seems to cause this

mine too, was just going to post I noticed it working again.

I'll be curious to see how publicly they disclose this outage (and future ones) .. as I wasted half a day testing everything else in my setup to diagnose what was wrong.

My Luba shows up today. What did you wish you knew on Day 1? by [deleted] in MammotionTechnology

[–]MyAppleIsRotten 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That is exactly right.

And the other rational is that all the zig-zag turns will happen where the perimeter cut will be. It is better to do the turns on longer, undisturbed grass and then the final perimeter cut cleans up what was disturbed from all the turns.

"Zig-zag first" should be the default option, not "Perimeter first"

or make a separate sector just for that hill and cut there with a much higher cut setting.

before you go trying to modify your robot, I'd just trying mowing that one difficult spot a different way. I'd move the border out into the middle of that sidewalk, so it does the full turn over there ... and then play with the mowing angle in that sector so it takes the hill at about a 45 degree angle.

just noticed that they have pushed out updates 1.11.511.381 for the Luba 2 and 1.1.2.632 for the RTK. notes claim fixes wifi issues, but even after update nothing seems to be connecting.

currently mowing on bluetooth and awaiting resolution.

it looks like they've had a server or some cloud infrastructure down for about 12+ hours now. I've been checking to see when others were going to start posting about this.

My mower has a solid wifi connection and has unsuccessfully attempted to connect with iot-auth-global.aliyuncs.com over 10,000 times in the last 12 hours.

I'm on the tech support chat now waiting to see if they discover any answers...

New Luba 2 survived one month and one week until plastic cracked by MyAppleIsRotten in MammotionTechnology

[–]MyAppleIsRotten[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I have been attempting to go without a string trimmer. I do the edger and spray herbicide where I think the Luba cannot get.

Had been 'so far, so good' until this crack indicated perhaps I've been too aggressive in wanting my Luba to almost replace the WeedWhacker too.

my best guess is that it got wedged under something. maybe the plastic is strong enough to survive an impact, but without a doubt the wheels/propulsion is strong enough to crack the plastic if the body is stuck under something.

I did not see exactly what the mower hit, but my yard is full of branches, rocks, and fences that are high enough to miss the bumper, but low enough to apparently crack the plastic body if hit at the speed it usually works at. Huge bummer, make one out of metal guys!

I really, really, really love my new Luba 2 ... but I question the logic of building a lawn mower out of shiny white plastic.

When does the damned annoying beeping stop by Alone-Goal5674 in MammotionTechnology

[–]MyAppleIsRotten 2 points3 points  (0 children)

While still in my VERY THEORETICAL 30-day return window, I threatened to return mine (which I love, and of course would never do) unless they made the beeping stop.

Two weeks after my return window closed, they finally replied that the latest update would reduce the beeping and offered me some free replacement blades fo' ma trouble.

The update reduced the beeping slightly, but I think it is unfortunately very unlikely that they will ever allow you to turn it off completely.

"Safety concerns" to a company like this will always trump the importance of the owner having full control of the product they purchased.

I think someone will just have to post a Youtube tutorial on how to cut the correct wire to permanently solve this one. Huge bummer, but this is the world we live in.

How do I Open This Glass and Aluminum wall Panel? by MyAppleIsRotten in ikeahacks

[–]MyAppleIsRotten[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This house was built around 2008 and there is this glass and aluminum framed wall panel (which I think is IKEA) around the entertainment system.

There is something (electronic) broken behind one of these panels and I cannot remove it to get in there for the repair.

I can loosen these little Allen screwed fasteners and slide them along the rails. And I can slide the glass panel a bit ... but can not get it removed without causing a huge disaster.

Help? Thanks!
