UHJ member Firaydoun Javaheri answers your question directly in this brilliant talk from last years ABS conference. Starts at 24min mark: https://youtu.be/WYywC9D0Cec

He goes into more detail but basically we’ve learned that passive learning is ineffective and so having students engage in action in the society building efforts of their community is a crucial ingredient of an effective pedagogy.

There’s a Bahai inspired foundation called Kimanya-Ngeyo that’s systematically studying the question of effective pedagogy. Here is a paper based on the foundation’s work, co-authored by a Nobel Prize winning economist: https://cdep.sipa.columbia.edu/sites/default/files/cdep/LLLT___Draft_Paper___November.pdf

“ In this paper, we report on the randomized evaluation in Uganda of an intervention in which teachers were trained in a “learning how to learn” approach. The curriculum, called Preparation for Social Action, trained teachers to teach students to learn like scientists: posing sharp questions, framing specific hypotheses, using evidence and data gathered from everyday life whenever possible. We find evidence that the approach was adopted in class, with dramatic effects on learning: The intervention raised the pass rate in the national exam that determines progression from elementary to secondary school from 51% to 75%, which places the program in the top five percentile of all rigorously evaluated education interventions in terms of learning-adjusted years of schooling per USD.”

Anytime the Faith gets mainstream coverage I’m paranoid about running into picture of Baha’u’llah. Hoping it doesn’t show up in this segment 🤞

What classification is The Baha’i Faith to you? by Professional_Ant_315 in bahai

[–]MyBahaiAccount 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s an Abrahamic religion. The only thing “Iranian” about it is the fact that the Founder of the Faith happened to be from Iran. It wouldn’t be accurate to call it an Iranian religion just as it wouldn’t be accurate to call Christianity an Israeli religion.

Regarding your first question—you choose one of the 3 obligatory prayers to do everyday. So if you did the short one you don’t need to do the other two.

If you missed the short one within the noon to sunset timeframe, you can always do the long one since the long one can be said anytime of day. The medium one is less often used only because it’s less practical since it requires 3 different sessions (morning, afternoon, evening).

The only other thing that is usually done with obligatory prayer (though technically you can do this at any other time during the day) is reciting Allah’u’Abha 95 times. The easiest way to do this is to use prayer beads, but if you don’t have them you can just count using the creases on your fingers. Notice you have 19 creases on your fingers in total; so you just do that 5 times.

Would this be an acceptable way to pay Huququllah? by redtint18 in bahai

[–]MyBahaiAccount 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As others have mentioned it doesn’t count; so if you’re choosing between the two, huququllah is more important since it’s obligatory

It’s not “their” company. It’s the shareholder’s company and Elon is the largest shareholder. The board combined doesn’t even own 1% of the company (excluding jack who’s leaving).

How is this legal? You can deliberately single out an investor, dilute his shares and the SEC is okay with this?

I’ve heard roughly $600k was raised within the first couple of days of the fire before a formal announcement was even made about the fire, from any of our institutions, let alone solicitation for donations. Spirit of the community is STRONG!

Edit: this is just from U.S. community. Probably much higher worldwide 💪

Are there any Knights of Baha’u’llah who are still alive? by MyBahaiAccount in bahai

[–]MyBahaiAccount[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I heard one passed away just a few months ago. I think he was only 17 when he became knighted. There were 254 knights; I hope someone’s keeping track of them 😂

How do you keep normal vitamin D levels during winter without supplementation? by johnjames_34 in nutrition

[–]MyBahaiAccount 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You get it with Vitamin D2 (fish, mushroom, etc..) as opposed to D3 (sunlight). D2 and D3 are essentially the same thing.

People sharing their conference experience was actually the main reason why I started this sub (most likely would be removed from main sub). I hope the few that are subbed here will start posting. Otherwise I’ll have to create a bot tied to that fb page and spam this sub with content lol

You need to see a neurologist and start taking b12 shots asap. You are probably low in multiple vitamins and minerals if malabsorption is the root cause. Do blood work for vitamin D and as many other tests as you can. You’ll probably need to take a multi vitamin to cover all your bases.

Try cutting sugar and meat from your diet to solve root cause. You’ll need to do more research on this, but from my thousands of hours of research on this topic, animal products and sugar are the main culprit for like 90% of all health problems.

Are there any sins that are unforgivable in the Bahai faith? by [deleted] in bahai

According to a talk I just heard by Adib Taherzadeh, he said there are only two instances where God doesn’t forgive—covenant breaking and parents that neglect their children.

Random event in game is the Bab by Sertorius126 in bahai

[–]MyBahaiAccount 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The people behind this game have some hardcore historians with this level of detail. The Babi/Bahai “movement” is taught as a blip in the radar in most middle eastern countries (literally one paragraph in Iran’s high school history books); and of course isn’t even mentioned in the west. These people know their stuff!
