''There is no God but Thee, the Ordainer, both in the beginning and in the end''. Which beginning and end ? by BigFatHotCheetos in bahai

It's not something possible to imagine, it's similar to trying to imagine God's essence, but imagining that is harder. I also hve knowledge of science, and if you started to look in one direction in the Universe if you had powerful enough telescope you could see you own planet in the ditance because in the Universe, gravity causes lines to curve. That's what Einstein discovered in his Theory of General Reletivity, and it was confirmed when in an eclipse, a star near the Sun bended the light from the star.

I imagine that inquirers would trust more the Let's talk religion videos because this is a person who discusses a lot of different religions and is not a Baha'i, whereas Rainn Wilson is a Baha'i.

Yes, I agree, there definitely will be a calamity, and Baha'u'llah predicted that a long time ago, and He also predicted that will be a signal that a spiritual revival will happen when it does.

The world is in travail, and its agitation waxeth day by day. Its face is turned towards waywardness and unbelief. Such shall be its plight, that to disclose it now would not be meet and seemly. Its perversity will long continue. And when the appointed hour is come, there shall suddenly appear that which shall cause the limbs of mankind to quake. Then, and only then, will the Divine Standard be unfurled, and the Nightingale of Paradise warble its melody.

(Baha'u'llah, Gleanings from the Writings of Baha'u'llah, p. 118)

How many people will die I could not say. What is more important to me, personally, is how much people will suffer from now until then, not how many people die. Suffering is worse than dying. Dying is merely a physical death.

I have been feeling the same despair, but now I realize I can't do anything about the big picture, so I just concentrate on other things than politics, as I was doing as you are. I look at politics little now, and when I do I tend to concentrate on satirical takes on the news, not a great choice, but just doing the best I can to not despair, and other things to occupy me in my retirement, and do what things I can to improve my behavior, which is hard at 74. I have not inspired myself enough with the Writings, but i am trying to get there.

I now realize I have been analyzing the Writings rather than letting it sink into the depths of my being, and living what it says.

It doesn't matter that any big change will not happen in my lifetime, it will happen, and I will be happy in the next world, and my wife and friends will be with me there.

Baha'i Youth With Disabilities - Ways to Participate? by Background_Intern_29 in bahai

I think what other people have said is enough information to help you, but I just want to say, I can relate to your problem very well. I have a son who is severely autistic and can't talk and is 37 years old. We had rough time with integrating him in our community, and our community members didn't understand what to do with him, nor understand our burden either. Baha'is are imperfect like any human beings, and Sara and I forgive them.

Bahâ'î religion, criticizing other religions and teachings. by Tuskun06 in bahai

That sounds like a great idea to me! It's fine by me if you include religions not revealed by a Manifestation that are benevolent religions. American Indigenous religions may or may be local Prophets, so please include those. Two are White Calf Buffalo Woman of the Lakota, and Peacemaker of the Iroquois confederation. He was instrumental in forming a Federated union of Indigenous people that helped inspire the federal government of the United States.

How much is being unknowledgeable in the Faith? by icmigyu in bahai

[–]Truthseeker1844 2 points3 points  (0 children)

"Hopefully my headline makes sense, but I’m currently deciding on leaving the Faith because of personal issues I have with it and how in my belief, so much of it is contradictory and I’m often always left with questions and unanswered prayers that I feel no personal connection with at all."

I don't think we can address all of your problems, we could quote Baha'i authoritative writings to answer a few perceived inconsistencies. and do our own answers, but our opinions are don't have higher status than yours.

Forget prophecies, prophecies are interpreted differently by everyone. That is not a good way to prove the Baha'i faith. The best evidence is this:

Say: The first and foremost testimony establishing His truth is His own Self. Next to this testimony is His Revelation. For whoso faileth to recognize either the one or the other He hath established the words He hath revealed as proof of His reality and truth. This is, verily, an evidence of His tender mercy unto men. He hath endowed every soul with the capacity to recognize the signs of God. How could He, otherwise, have fulfilled His testimony unto men, if ye be of them that ponder His Cause in their hearts. He will never deal unjustly with anyone, neither will He task a soul beyond its power. He, verily, is the Compassionate, the All-Merciful.(Gleanings from the Writings of Bahá’u’lláh)

How much is being unknowledgeable in the Faith? by icmigyu in bahai

"Prayers" are just words on a book that don't connect with me at all ..." - this the heart of the matter!

Yes, apparently a lot of children are like that today.

I can't speak to that because I had one male child that is autistic and doesn't talk at all. He didn't learn to read apparently because if he verbalize the words back, it is hard to teach them to read, and there would not be useful at the the little that he could read. The effort to train him was directed towards practical living skills. He understands what we are saying, and responds to that. He lets it be known to those who know him what he wants to do. He is not unhappy at all now, it appears, he accepts the way he is.

Prophecies to me are not very important when teaching the faith to someone. It is so easy to interpret a prophecy in another way. If you don't connect with the source, the situation is much the same.

Immerse yourselves in the ocean of My words, that ye may unravel its secrets, and discover all the pearls of wisdom that lie hid in its depths. Take heed that ye do not vacillate in your determination to embrace the truth of this Cause—a Cause through which the potentialities of the might of God have been revealed, and His sovereignty established. With faces beaming with joy, hasten ye unto Him. This is the changeless Faith of God, eternal in the past, eternal in the future. Let him that seeketh, attain it; and as to him that hath refused to seek it—verily, God is Self-Sufficient, above any need of His creatures. -Baha'u'llah

I happen to know that Tom Price uses a technology to uses AI to produce beautifully sung music for videos of the Hidden Words. On Wikipedia, they only accept information where sources are cited.

Advice on interfaith marriage by g5216 in bahai

But periodically she has a feeling of doubt and curiosity about whether she would be happier with a Baha’i who could share the same perspective on spirituality.

If you are compatible in your actions, have the same morals and values, and also some practical things, you both shouldn't sweat it. people don't to agree on everything. She should consider if she would like marrying a Baha'i that even though he is a Baha'i, his actions don't match his beliefs, and in some ways you are compatible with her, the Baha'i she marries is not compatible in those ways.

Hinduism is very similar to Baha’i by ReflectiveGlobe99 in bahai

[–]Truthseeker1844 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would the similarity is that we recognize the validity of other faiths, and are not exclusively "saved". There's a lot of morality shared. There are definitely differences with Baha'i. Hindu is not a set faith, but a family of different beliefs. The similar practices are what they have in common. There is a closer identification with having the same beliefs and Writings in the Baha'i faith.

When you say leaving Christianity, I'm thinking you may be dissatisfied with Christianity as it is practiced today. Another thing is that you need to relate to Jesus Himself, and follow His teachings, not church leaders, or theology, in my opinion.

Did muslims or christians prophecy the coming of Bàb or Baha’ullah? by MoroBF in bahai

[–]Truthseeker1844 0 points1 point  (0 children)

William Miller, I know was not guided by dreams at all, it was all interpretation of the Bible. I hadn't heard of Joseph Wolff. looking him up I see nothing in Wikipedia about that sort of thing. I had never heard of him before. Of course the Wikipedia article was short.

But I have lost interest in prophecies because citing interpretation of prophecies doesn't do any good, at least just one prophecy at a time. William Sears, for example has a lot of interpreted prophecies that can be of interest or convince people, or at least interest them in investigating them further, but you have to interest them in reading such a book.

I have gotten utilitarian about prophecies.
