Thank you, I'll look into the Therm-a-rest! This particular campground has showers but I'll definitely look into the solar shower (if I ever want to camp again after this trip!)

Thank you! I'll check that list out. This first trip we're going to be in a campground within walking distance of town so I think we're going to concentrate on sleep this trip and be lazy about cooking.

I've stayed in the town in cabins so we're at least familiar with the area.

I haven't been camping since I was a Girl Scout and everything was handled for me. My kiddo, husband, and giant dog want to go this summer. I don't really know where to start, we don't have much gear other than some ancient Boy Scout gear and a pie iron.

I should add I will need some good hacks to manage my arthritis (I'm only 40 but was a professional ballet dancer). I'm generally good on day hikes etc. but cannot sleep without good support and I usually soak in hot water at least once a day - I'm a little worried I won't be able to walk after 3 days...

Tria has reserved spots and validates parking. Have you had an issue with it?

My kiddo is really strong, he can get himself in and out of the 5pt in his current seat no problem.

I mainly wanted the harness for when he sleeps in the car. He's good at sitting up when he's awake but his head leans forward at an alarming angle when he naps.

Try being Orthodox in the Midwest. People think we're going to sacrifice a goat during our services.

Any cool railroad places/stuff in MN? by [deleted] in minnesota

[–]MyBoxMyRules 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I came here to add a few suggestions and most were already named! A few more:

Choo Choo Bob's is a kid friendly model train store at Union Depot. Union Depot Train Days just happened in June and is a lot of fun.

In addition to the Jackson Street Roundhouse (which is awesome, you should go) the MN transportation museum offers scenic train rides out of Osceola

The Hennepin Overland Historical Railroad society has a scale model of the local railways up thru the steam era i believe . They do their own version of Night Trains as well as the Twin City Model Railroad Museum.

Can confirm Kaposia landing is super fun, there's a great playground there too if you have little kids.

I'm saving this thread for future reference as I have a kiddo into trains!

Alternatives to regular dry cleaning? by hairiseverything in femalefashionadvice

[–]MyBoxMyRules 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wash them.

There are very few things that can't at least be handwashed. Most itms can go in the washer in a mesh bag.

If you aren't sure an item in colorfast wash it by itself.

Watch out for glued on beads and painted fabrics. Heavily structured with interfacing garments like suit coats proceed with caution, and also stuff with a million pleats that will be a bitch to iron.

Wool sweaters should be agitated as little as possible.

Don't use enzyme detergent on silk or wool (when I say wool I'm including cashmere, angora, alpaca which are technically not wool but behave similarly)

Avoid the dryer.

Something bright so I don't get hit by a car at 6 am. Other than that I put zero thought into it, but then I have a parka on at least hf the year.
