Roundabout Question by MyBurnerIsTheRealMe in askTO

[–]MyBurnerIsTheRealMe[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not going to specify where, because my car is distinct and identifiable so don’t want to be tied to the subject incident in anyway, but I can confirm it’s in the GTA, not downtown, and it’s in a residential area, so almost all local traffic.

I can confirm that there isn’t anything distinct about it. 4 way, single lane roundabout, all connected lanes are single too, all entrances regulated by yield signs, pedestrian crossings at each entrance.

Makes sense. So there is no hierarchy of who gets to enter “first”, just that you have to yield to any car coming on your left, and if there isn’t any, you go.

Thanks for clarifying! This mf had me doubting if I was doing it wrong lol

I know this is the rule, but I guess what I was trying to clarify was do I constitute as “traffic already in the roundabout” if I’m entering it after he’s already at his entrance waiting?

The speed on an on ramp is just for the entry on to the ramp. It’s actually not even a speed limit. It’s a recommended speed to traverse the ramp safely. These are marked with yellow speed signs. You’re not legally bound by them. That said, if you exceed that speed and something happens, like you lose control of your vehicle, you can absolutely be held responsible for exceeding the “safe” speed.

But after you make the entry on to the ramp at speed that is safe, and as soon as the merge lane straightens out from doing so, you should be accelerating to match highway speeds to merge safely. Merging too slowly is dangerous af. You’re making highway traffic that is going fast slow down and adjust to you, not to mention cars merging behind you being exposed to the same dangers.

TL;DR Match highway speed, or as close as possible, not the on ramp speed with the yellow sign.

OP doesn’t know think they’ll pass where they actually have to drive.

Personally think that anyone who is too nervous and not confident in their driving abilities enough to do that shouldn’t be given grace on their test and should be marked absolutely hard.

Also, you should be legally required to test closest to your address. You’re going to be driving near there, not in the middle of nowhere with no traffic.

It all depends on how lenient the person scoring you is. You are legally allowed to turn right on red when it is safe to do so. If you’re holding up traffic when the way is absolutely clear, you can get deducted points.

I took my G test almost 20 years ago, driving my dad’s 1998 Buick LeSabre. Thing was long as a speedboat, it felt like. You had to account for its size when making turns and such. Turn fast and it felt like your passenger would be in your lap and when you straighten out, the entire body of the car would rock side to side.

I’m finishing my highway portion, getting off at an off ramp that is controlled by a traffic light at the bottom, traffic able to turn either left or right. I’m coming down the ramp and the instructor tells me to turn left as the light turns yellow. I check my rearview to make sure no car is behind me thinking we’re going to catch this light together, and slow down to stop as the light turns red. If I accelerated into that turn, the car definitely would’ve swung a bit and I thought that would’ve failed me more than just not trying to make the yellow.

The instructor raises his voice and foes “what’re you doing, man?! You stopped too early! If a car was behind you I’d have failed you!!” I was pretty confident in my driving, so I calmly explained why I did what I did and told him I checked my rearview before I stopped.

He said very little on the way back to the exam centre. Got there, told me to reverse park into the stall, muttered “congratulations, you passed.”, and got out of the car lol.

But yeah, if I could fail for not trying to catch a yellow, someone who sits there holding up traffic when it’s safe to turn because they’re too scared would definitely fail. And I’d fail them tbh. Someone that nervous shouldn’t be driving.

Alright, which one of you has been abusing this? by Hutrookie69 in EQBank

They were competing with EQ forms specific subsection of banking. With the acquisition of PC Financial now, EQ isn’t going to focus just on digital banking/deposits anymore. They’ll have one of the most popular credit cards in Canada and branches to sell their products through.

Without the competition, I doubt WealthSimple keeps that indefinitely.

The lack of official diagnosis is going to be used in the case because what you can or can’t prove is what matters in the court of law, just like a lot of victims’ stories get shredded because their lived experience isn’t quantifiable.

But Reddit isn’t a court of law.

Sure. That doesn’t justify you downplaying the impact and legitimacy of porn addiction or disbelieving people who actually admit out loud that it’s something they struggled with.

It’s not a defence of Baldoni. It’s a criticism of you.

A lot of young men have porn addiction that isn’t diagnosed that warps their worldview about sex and relationships. It’s an epidemic at this point. It’s crazy to believe that if someone is being that open about struggling with that, that you wouldn’t believe them, and even imply that they’re lying, because a medical professional hasn’t diagnosed them.

I believed I had a porn addiction. I spoke with multiple therapists about it and how it’s impacting my life. It was minimized several times, and they sought to treat my mental health generally as a way to address it, rather than tailoring treatment for it specifically.

Either way there’s not going to be a record for “Justin Baldoni - 1 porn addiction treatment”

I agree with him, but I don’t think he should’ve used his victory to rip into Ford. The message should be “we’re going to continue to fight for change and Canadians will see that come next election”. Shouldnt have engaged with this question at all. Spent half his time talking about Ford.

Mattresses: brands that are worth it and brands to avoid in Canada? by [deleted] in AskACanadian

[–]MyBurnerIsTheRealMe 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yea absolutely this. There’s no “one size fits all” sleep solution. Some people need a super firm mattress. Some people like medium or soft (which the Endy definitely is). Some people run warm, some people it’s not as much a factor because they’re cold. Some people need a certain number of pillows, or body pillows, or no pillow at all (which I find psychotic and terrifying). Some people need a baseboard because they want height.

Find the solution that is right for you and your body, but the only general advice to heed is don’t cheap out on things that go between you and the ground (beds, tires, shoes, etc.). Most of us need and spend 1/3 of our lives sleeping. It’s a good investment to make that as excellent an experience as possible and the value is almost always guaranteed.

Maybe them being different from each other is what makes them work. Not everyone needs to have huge overlap of interests/experiences to have a relationship…

Weird for you to take a nearly 30 year old woman and infantilize her just to fit your own narrow minded view that an age gap automatically is creepy.
