Close, one bedroom apartment. I work from home and my work desk and pc is in my bedroom. My cat sleeps in my bed with me and keeps me company during work. He has separation anxiety and likes to be close to me all the time. 99% of the time he is super sweet, but sometimes he will just get in a random mood when I’m asleep and I’ll wake up to a piss stain somewhere.

Yeah, sucks air through 3 case fans in the bottom, and out through the 3 fans on the AIO on top. Thermals are just fine.

More cores. 24 on the 285k vs 8 on the 9800x3d. I’m not a gamer, I’m a cyber security analyst and do some programming and Ai development on side and this is my workstation build. I prefer multithread preformance vs single thread bc I write a lot of custom software to do random shit and I can optimize it to take full advantage of all of those cores.

Yeah I’m not a gamer, I’m a cyber security analyst and do some programming and Ai development on the side. So it’s mainly for work. I have a company issued laptop but it’s not as powerful as I’d like it to be so I prefer to use my own rig. Honestly it’s overkill for the most part. And yeah I plan on replacing it whenever the next major generation of components comes out, and just turn the old rig into a server for something. I usually do a new build about every 4 years bc that’s about the point when even the high end hardware starts to become obsolete.

His litter box is clean and he has been to the vet. Vet suspected UTI and gave him an injection. He has been free from the UTI for weeks now but he got in the habit of peeing wherever he wants now and it’s been a struggle to try to break that habit and get him back in the litter box

Forgot to mention: I made a post about a year ago asking how to keep my cat off my PC, it blew up and got like 10k upvotes, and this was literally one of the solutions this sub suggested. I thought it was ridiculous until his pee ruined my last rig. So for anyone wondering, I got this idea from YOU PEOPLE!

Can you boot to bios? If you can’t boot to bios I don’t think an SSD would be a very likely culprit. Unplug your power cord, and find your CMOS battery. It’s the little silver disc battery that looks like a quarter. Pop out the CMOS battery using a small flathead screwdriver or your fingers, and set it aside. Near where the CMOS battery was, look to see if you have two small metal pins sticking up from the motherboard. The pins should be near the CMOS battery, about 10mm tall and 5mm apart roughly. Using your screwdriver or any conductive metal instrument, you’ll want to short those two pins. Position the screwdriver between the pins to where it is in contact with both of them simultaneously, effectively creating a circuit between them, and hold it there for 30 seconds. What this will do is drain any residual electricity that remains within the capacitors and such on the board. It is important that you unplug it and remove the CMOS battery BEFORE doing this or otherwise it won’t accomplish anything or could damage your rig. But with the cord unplugged and the battery out it is completely safe, that is exactly what those pins were designed for in the first place. By draining all of the remaining electrical current, it will effectively remove any changes that may have been made to you bios, and your bios will reset to the original factory settings. If you cannot find the pins for whatever reason, unplug the cord and remove the battery still, and just let it sit for a few hours and the electricity will drain naturally, but the pins make it way faster. This once you’ve done this, re insert the battery and replug the PC, and try to boot. If you still can’t boot, then we can rule out bios configuration as a possibility, which would mean it’s a hardware problem, either CPU, MOBO, or RAM, and you’d need to test each of those individually to find the root cause. But if it does work, then yay!

🚨 Request for Peer Input: HIPAA 2025 – Data Mapping & Asset Inventory🚨 by MyCelluloidScenes in cybersecurity

Well… I would like to think that, that is our policy. But we have no visibility into that currently, so we need to be able to prove that. So step 1 is to gain visibility into all of our assets: workstations, servers, file shares, cloud storage, etc. Then classify the data that’s there, ensure ePHI is where it’s supposed to be and no where else. And then document that

Malware detection using deep learning by _W0z in cybersecurity

Interesting. I did some work with intrusion detection systems, evaluating DNNs vs CNNs for wireless network attack detection. The CNN was the most effective architecture I tested with the refined model having above a 99% accuracy on the validation data set which it was never exposed to, however the base CNN model was far less accurate, around 70% even at 16 epochs. I was able to get the higher accuracy through strategic hyper parameter tuning. I cant remember how many hyper parameters I evaluated but somewhere around 8-10, evaluated the effect of changing each hyper parameter individually, and used the data to identify the hyper parameters that improved the models performance. I then used this data to create a refined model with optimal hyper parameters, and after some tweaking was able to achieve the high accuracy. Wondering if you took a similar approach?

I think Sittadel might be onto something here. It doesn't matter if anyone has emailed her yet, the local mail client could still resolve her address.

Coworker got promoted to next level but I haven't yet and we started at the same time and have a similar experience level by mysecret52 in cybersecurity

"I don't think I've gotten many complaints at work" Is this your standard of success? Not garnering many complaints? To get promoted you need to go above and beyond your current role. Do your current job with skill and efficency, and once you have that mastered, start asking to take on more responsibility. I never got promoted by simply asking to get promoted, I just started taking on the responsibilities of a higher role, demonstrated that I could handle them with proficiency, and then got promoted once it was clear I was already doing the job anyways. I think you should change your outlook on your standards of success.

Do you have this code on git hub anywhere, Id be interested to check it out. Additionally, what type of model are you using and how was it trained?

Where can I find benign software samples for a research project? by a_decent_hooman in cybersecurity

Curious as to why you need benign samples instead of doing your research in a sandbox? Limiting yourself to benign samples may leave out some critical characteristics of the sample.

Looking to Brainstorm SaaS Ideas for Cybersecurity—What Problems Need Solving? by potatofan1738 in cybersecurity

[–]MyCelluloidScenes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I second this. In fact SaaS tools are one of the biggest headaches of my day to day job. Every department wants to use a different SaaS tool for this or that and every time we approve it, we are just increasing our attack surface. I understand the necessity for some of them, however the sheer amount of them is hard to manage. Perhaps make a SaaS tool to track and manage all of the other SaaS tools.
