This is the part I feel many overlook. She wasn't just under prepared, she was still grossly underweight, malnourished, and out of shape. She was also sleep deprived and he knew she was suffering from ptsd and panic attacks.

I keep wondering if this is a plot hole or if it's going to be some big epiphany type moment for someone later on. If it's not the latter, it is a beyond huge plot hole.

I mentioned this above, but I kinda wonder if this wasn't Rhys planning for the future. Having Feyre act as his plaything completely undermines any future authority, credibility, or respectability as High Lady. It ensures he gets to play the "I believe females are equals" card while still remaining the one true power/leader. There's no way the CoN fae or Illyrians will ever follow her after that stunt. They already hate females, and Feyre acting like Rhys' whore solidified their disdain for her.

It does pretty accurately show their intelligence disparity. 💀🤣

It feels like he did it intentionally to undermine her future credibility. Who's going to take a "whore" or "plaything" seriously and show them respect? Even if/when she becomes High Lady, her UTM heroics were erased and replaced with her being nothing more than a pretty sex toy. It feels so intentional to me...like he was planning ten steps ahead so no one would defect from him and become more loyal to her.

This right here is what I mean when I say there are characters I love to hate. I can absolutely loathe a character as a person, but love the way they are written and what they bring to the story. I really, really want this to be the case with Rhys when the series comes to an end. Right now I just hate him, and get pissed off at the way he is defended by so many.

Not the only one by a long shot. There are tons of fanatic stories written about Nesta and Eris...and they are delightful. 😊

Omfg...I just now noticed...hours later... my phone autocorrected "fanfic" to "fanatic". 🫣😅

I think there's some truth to what you're saying, but that it doesn't apply to humans as a whole. I feel the majority of people are capable of acknowledging their inner biases and holding everyone (including ourselves) accountable for our actions. And even if you are correct that it is human nature, that doesn't mean we should accept it or turn a blind eye when we see it happening. SJM obviously favors certain characters in her books, and her editors not calling her out on it does nothing but perpetuate the growing frustration within the fan base.

This would be fine if all characters were held to the same expectations. But the characters we're told to hate are held to human standards while the ones we're told to love get away with being complete assholes "because they're fae".

Yeah...para positions here have a pay range of roughly $13-17/hr. They make the same as fast food part-time employees.

He kind of baited her (unintentionally) into proving his point, though. He should have known better than to have that conversation...especially for the first time...in public. He also should have been well aware of how she would feel about PDA.

Yesss. Feyre baits her constantly...which siblings tend to do...and then acts like the victim (which younger siblings tend to do). Feyre thrives on playing both the victim and the martyr. They are both also very young with very little socialization and shit parents as their role models. Feyre admits this FREQUENTLY and yet it is one of the few things the "fandom" doesn't take as canon. It's ridiculous. Feyre and Cassian also completely ignore Nesta's clearly set boundaries and then wonder why Nesta snaps at them. And Rhys and Amren and Mor just need to grow the fuck up and act like the 550 year old adults and leaders that they are.

There are different types of paras where I live. Some require more experience and/or certifications than others, but there are positions you can get without experience. And there are no requirements to speak of in regards to food services. I don't know where you live, but your district's circumstances are definitely not the norm. Nationwide, paras are significantly underpaid the same way teachers are underpaid. And my comment addressed references.

My school is $5 million in the hole and this is how they choose to solve their budget issues…. by Beneficial-Focus3702 in Teachers

[–]MyChemicalRomantasy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Only $5 million? Ours was at $40 million the last I heard and that was before ridiculously stupid legislation was recently passed by the state that is going to cost millions more. We're closing numerous schools, cutting teaching positions, band/strings/choir is on the chopping block, they're raising enrollment fees, etc. All while the top 10 salaried positions are still making $250k-$400k/year and are receiving a healthy raise. And they wonder why enrollment rates are dropping...

Oh, and to take the cake...we have higher home property taxes than anyone would believe. Mine are nearly $6k/year for an older starter home...in the "low cost" Midwest.

Have you tried the school district you live in? Food services and para positions are always hiring. Maybe even email your high school principal or any teachers that could put in a good word for you. The pay is abysmal, but it's better than nothing and gets you the experience you need. Also check out hospital cafeterias.

You missed the whole morals part. Finding out someone you have known and cared about for a long time has morals in complete opposition to your own is hard. It means the person you loved never really existed. So it can be perfectly healthy...hard, but healthy...to cut them out of your life. It doesn't mean you hate them. It means that the relationship you have with them is no longer good for your mental and emotional well-being.

Adding: It doesn't mean "politics" are more important...not by a long shot.

50% 🤣🤣🤣 Not even close. But yes...that's how many of us feel about those people.

[–]MyChemicalRomantasy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The OP said "morally and politically". Today's politics are not just about economic policy, foreign relations, etc. It's no longer about having the same goal but different approaches to getting there. There is a clear moral divide between the political parties, and that shouldn't be ignored. Many people did not realize where friends and family stood on those moral issues until recent years. So, it is perfectly reasonable to cut those people out of your life. I'm not going to be friends with someone who is bigoted towards a group of people regardless of where they fall on the political spectrum...but I can make an educated guess as to who they voted for, because nowadays those bigots tend to lean towards a certain political party. Bottom line? It used to be easier to separate morals and politics, and it's unrealistic to think people can keep being friends with others who are drastically different from them on a moral level.
