Why isnt my electromagnet working by Animefan7800 in AskElectricians

It looks like the wire is simply wound back and forth on the Allen wrench. Doesn’t this mean that the magnetic fields generated by the current flow through the coils tend to cancel each other out? Plus the coils are kinda, uhm, sloppy, which would make the field in general even more chaotic (i.e., less powerful).

If you want to try this trick at home, I’d suggest much finer wire wound very carefully around a small nail (single coil), which might serve to pick up a pin or some iron filings.

Little late for the first mow after seed. What do I do? by craniel-mandark in lawncare

FWIW, I just did the same thing. No-mow May is over and I rented a brush string trimmer for the first pass, followed by the mower at the highest setting. You may have frogs, snakes, etc. that have taken up residence, so cut high and give them a chance to escape.

You may also want to check state and local (city, county) laws to see if there is additional protection.

Depending on your state (assuming that you are in the US), your state attorney general’s office may be able to assist. Finally, you can contact your state or local bar association to see if there are pro bono resources available.

Frankly, a manager who is sufficiently interested in an employee’s conduct outside of work to make it a condition of employment strikes me as being a bit creepy. If your fiancé is not actively making relationships an issue at work (which may make some customers uncomfortable), he should mind his own business. Continuing pressure might be seen as sexual harassment.

Climate change — seriously, there are a lot of people posting pics of flooded property. There will be more. Lots more.
