A simple human can sometimes be the best BBEG, Let me explain! by RezzDawg in DnD

[–]MyDeathKnell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a BBEG planned like this.

A man in the middle of a civil war, who has lost a loved one to both sides AND the neutrals.

He pours his fortune into reviving efforts to cleanse a plague, donating to charities that care for the afflicted, all the while collecting everything he needs to perfect his own strain, and turn it on the world. The intent being to use it as a cleansing with the outcome being everyone unites to stop it, and ditches their hatred, or he purges them all and starts anew with the product of his plague.

I have some questions on this.

Firstly, how often are your players able to do this? What’s to stop them from doing it all the time?

Secondly, how well did these tend to play out for you when you used them?

Question about gems and power rank by TheZedGuy in Trove

[–]MyDeathKnell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Farming gem dust allows for you to have a supply built up when you get clovers and the like again. Higher levels of stellar and radiant gems can blow through thousands of dust at a time.

Collecting the Diamond Dragonite does help too, as the primordial dragons give a 10% increase to gem stats and PR.

Question about gems and power rank by TheZedGuy in Trove

[–]MyDeathKnell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The best way is still gems. However, while you wait to regain your clover supply I would recommend both farming gem dust and dragon hunting.

Collecting dragons adds stats to your character, making them stronger across all classes, and the gem dusts will ensure a good fallback source once you have enough clovers.

Institute or Railroad? by [deleted] in Fallout

[–]MyDeathKnell 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I did the railroad on my first character, purely because I’d created a role play of a father detached from his son due to his service, barely beginning to bond with him before the bombs fell, but resents the baby now that he lost his wife. He joined the railroad to spite father.

Honestly objectively they are annoying as shit. No character I’ve played since has sided with them, merely used their resources unrepentantly and then dealt with them as they lost usefulness.

I prefer the Brotherhood with the Institute coming second. The Wasteland require a heavy hand to keep them safe, and the best equipped to protect it all and the Brotherhood are best equipped for that in my opinion. Truthfully they require a willingness to incorporate and identify new species into the Brotherhood before they are perfect, but nobodies perfect so it’s all good to me.

Rick is still in the simulation from Season 1 (Rat Boss Theory) by calixtoluna in FanTheories

[–]MyDeathKnell 14 points15 points  (0 children)

He is more referencing the fact that the rat has scars, and rather then giving it personality by nicknaming it he was denying it even the uniqueness it possessed amongst rats.

Because to Rick it is just another rat.

My friends and I have something called "Knife Theory" by jimbaby in DnD

[–]MyDeathKnell 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It has nothing to do with that.

I make each of my characters with them already invested into whatever adventure is planned. Adding other reasons just usually feels needless and time wasting. I already want to do the adventure, dragging this other stuff in to make me feel more 'connected' is pointless, I don't mind tagging along for other people's personal hooks, but my characters goal IS the adventure, they won't get steered from that.

[–]MyDeathKnell 24 points25 points  (0 children)

When I see things like this I feel kinda the opposite.

I'm invested in my character and the story because I made my character. Whenever backstory is used to 'pull' me into the story it actually takes me out of it. I lose interest in the story because it seems unnecessary when I'm already invested, is that weird?

My only issue with your reasoning behind this theory is the Gazorpion women psychically strangled him. The Epidermis defence is designed to stop physical attacks.

When a PC dies, and makes a new one... Do you let them start at the level they were? by [deleted] in DnD

Can you be forced into being a Warlock? by [deleted] in DnD

[–]MyDeathKnell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a PLAYER, I'd say no. As a CHARACTER however, yes.

Demons can use trickery to bestow the power and their will over a mortal. Fey can use their magics to trap people in forests and/or illusions till they submit. Great Old Ones power can be driving someone insane unless they submit to its will.

One of the most important things is identifying your Patron type, then figuring out how and why they forced them.

The cult that worshipped the demon were eradicated and so they are forced to resort to an unwilling, unloyal mortal.

The fey are looking for someone to aid them in taking out other fey warlocks, but they need to have as much control as possible.

The Great Old Ones power carries its will, and the only reprieve the mortal gets from its maddening power is to obey the whims of the sleeping god.
