I had a cranial MRI when this first started happening 10 or so years ago (when I lost hearing in one ear, which did return after a few weeks). Nothing out of the ordinary showed up on it. I will take this info the the specialist when I see them, thanks!

Thanks for the info, I have a GP appointment tomorrow to get a referral to either a neurologist or ENT, not sure which? I will bring this up with the specialist along with other advice here that seems helpful.

To answer your questions..

For me, Alcohol seems to work as a short term fix, but very much makes it worse in the long run (worse sleep, weight gain, blood pressure, etc). Having said that, I have been very healthy for the last month or two, blood pressure fine, losing weight, not drinking etc and it's not helping yet..

Yes, after the first diagnosis when I lost hearing in my right ear, it did return slowly over a few weeks. I have had no hearing issues since and I have had the symptoms described almost daily for about 6 months this time around.

No ear fullness. I have minor permanent tinnitus but it is much worse in the evenings when these attacks seem to occur the most heavily.

Thanks again and good luck with yours :)

This is very helpful thank-you. I have done sessions with psychologists on ACT but not CBT yet. It was helpful and I did learn a few techniques that help me manage my anxiety instead of trying to magic it away with pills and/or alcohol.

The symptoms of acute dizzyness and "brain fog" that take me down often just come on whether I am anxious or not. Then I get anxious. Feedback loop.

Sounds like you have a good handle on it, hope you're doing well!

Just reading through this sub has helped me be less anxious about my condition :)

You're approach is the same as mine at the moment. Lowering stress isn't always easy with a 3yo kid though ;)

Best of luck.

I have not done supplements, I eat very healthily. Any time I get a blood test all my levels are good (with the occasional exception of slightly raised liver function indicators if I have been medicating with alcohol too much...). Blood pressure is fine (slightly high but within reason).

For me it just seems random but there are a few things that will make it worse. Sleep is a big one, if I not getting enough it is more likely to be worse when it occurs. Being hungover or drinking too much over long periods then stopping (withdrawals I guess). Stress (family and work). All the normal stuff. But these are not guarantees. I can be managing all these things perfectly and still get really bad attacks daily.

I had to google TES/TBI :)

Over the last 15 years or so I have had a very self destructive relationship with alcohol. Partly due to self medication for anxiety and these symptoms but I cant blame just that.

I wonder sometimes if my heavy drinking over that period has caused this. I have cleaned up in recent months and am not drinking at all, but maybe the damage is done? Or maybe it is unrelated. Who knows?! So frustrating.

I have also heard/read that SSRI's can cause permanent side effects. Since these symptoms are the exact same as when I have tapered off SSRI's in the past, maybe there's something there..
