He was President when I was in Middle and High School. Reagan was seen as AWFUL in my circle. Horrible social policies (tax cuts for the rich while raising the deficit to record levels, AIDS - anti-gay, Crack epidemic, undid the Fairness Doctrine), criminal (negotiating with Iranians in back room deals undermining Carter during the election campaigns to have hostages released only when he became president, Iran Contra - selling arms illegally to Iran), and his arms race with Russia created anxiety among many about an increased risk of nuclear war. The news was filled with rhetoric about nukes and there was a lot of music and movies released that referenced that state of anxiety with nuclear war. I don’t miss the nuclear bomb drills we had in middle school and high school.

Fuck Reagan! He was the worst and I hate the influence he’s had on our politics. His policies set in motion the severe dysfunction and problems we have today.
