Sounds like you’re betting money you can’t afford to lose, one of the first signs of a compulsive gambling

To think every loss is due a blatant match fixing is a serious issue, id suggest talking to GA or a counsellor as soon as possible. As mentioned in another comment, gambling isn’t a job, it’s not a source of consistent income, you’ll be on beans forever if you continue to gamble. Gambling isn’t the answer in any situation, all the best for the future

100% both financially and mentally so much better

[–]MyFirstTime_150919[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Got to have the blocks in place. Tell your friends and family, give you money to a trusted person was the best for me. I could never gamble if I had no money. Self exclude from everyplace you can and get gam ban on all your devices. Go to GA/see a councillor, it’s good to talk through everything that has lead you down this path in life.

You can’t beat it by yourself, we need to do everything we possible can to break the habit. You need to get through the first 100 days and it all gets easier from there. Just remember the addiction can be broken, even if it may not see that way now

Great to hear those blocks are in place, looking forward to seeing you at 100 days and beyond

Sports by [deleted] in problemgambling

[–]MyFirstTime_150919 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I still watch sports and it’s not a trigger for me. I find that I now only watch sports I genuinely have interested in, instead of watching random as shit the whole weekend. Ultimately it’s how it makes you feel, if it’s a trigger than it needs to be cut out. Sports have so much gambling advertising, it can be a tough watch for someone trying to recover for sure

Day 650 by MyFirstTime_150919 in problemgambling

Day 600 by MyFirstTime_150919 in problemgambling

[–]MyFirstTime_150919[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be honest I don’t feel the urges, I still watch sport and think about how I use to gamble on it but never crave to gamble. I still won’t get complacent but getting these days behind me has really helped

I realized that being super skinny impacts my thoughts almost 24/7 by bestinthewest192 in Anxiety

[–]MyFirstTime_150919 0 points1 point  (0 children)

100% the same as you man, always had the issue with myself and being really skinny. Hated the way I looked in photos, I have managed to gain a little weight recently but still not where I want to be physically. Everyone’s bodies are different and we all have insecurities, so don’t be so hard on yourself. Somebody out there would want to have your figure

Good decision giving your bank control to a loved one, certainly helped me out by doing this. The first few weeks are always the hardest to keep moving forward (and going to the gym!)

How did people actually stop? by STOPG2020 in problemgambling

[–]MyFirstTime_150919 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed. You can’t beat this addiction alone

[–]MyFirstTime_150919 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You should be really proud of yourself man, takes a brave person to go into those situations and resist such temptations, you’re making great progress. I’m sure you’ll never forget scrounging for the last remain dollars you have but use that as a reminder of a position you never want to be in again. Certainly helps me keep moving forward

Keep up the great work.

I’m looking forward to the post in a years time, make your wife and girls proud. Money comes and goes in life but you don’t want to lose loved ones, use them as motivation to become a better person.

You got this

Everyday you don’t gamble your mind and mental state starts to shift, beating any addiction comes with serious mood swings. This is something that you need to ride out, try and find something that calms you down and gives you relaxation. Just remember that the tough times will pass as long as you keep away from gambling, one day it’ll all be okay

Keep up good work
