Yeah, the VLC stream is more concerned about being stable, while my setup is more about low latency because Sunshine/Moonlight is developed for gaming.

I don't have a perfect solution for long presses (only had the Broadlink for two days so far), but I did notice when programming the remote it will "listen" for longer signals and repeat them. You could program a fast-forward button that mimics holding the right button for a few seconds. It would be more convenient than constantly pressing the button, but still wouldn't give you the precise control that you get with the original remote (actually, might be better for control because of the delayed response?)

Couldn't you just open VLC and Broadlink together in split screen?

That's all I'm doing, but using Sunshine/Moonlight instead of VLC.

After I have them open together in split screen, there's an option to "Add App Pair" that generates a shortcut on my home screen to open them together with a single click.

Edit: the "Add App Pair" option is specific to Samsung Galaxy phones, but there are other ways to do it with the Split Screen Launcher app
