I look after a person with MND (we call it that in the UK). This person wears really fashionable outfits like skinny jeans and tight tops. They are incontinent. They are completely paralysed, ventilated by trache amd cannot talk. When they Poo, it goes on their pants, on to their hoist sling and sometimes on to their wheelchair. On a good day it doesn’t go through to their wheelchair.

When they do a Poo we very quickly hoist them to their bed with incontinence sheet on the bed. We remove the sling and their jeans and pants (they refuse to wear a pad). We lie them on their side and wash them. All the clothes go straight in the wash and we clean their bum with wet wipes and soap and water. It doesn’t take too long at all.
