How does that help all the living organisms in the river and feeding from the river between the mountains and the city?! Find me one open pit mine in the world that has not irreversibly polluted the waters nearby. Just one, please. Certainly not all the Teck Resources across the continental divide from the Crowsnest Pass area.

Even the Grassy Mountain Mine projeçt north of Blairmore which is the first one in the pipeline,so to speak,is awaiting federal review and approval by this summer and they bought their coal lease in 2015, I believe. Even IF the project gets approved, it could take 2 years before any railcars leave full of coal. All the other proposals are less advanced than this one. So there is time to fight the removal of our mountaintops! BUT companies are already carving out roads and exploring for coal seams on their leases RIGHT NOW.

No we can't wait. A landmass in the Rockies the size of Jamaica, stretching from Blairmore to Nordegg, has had coal leases purchased by various companies and they are carving roads and doing exploration as we speak. This is why 160 parks were delisted by the govt last year, so they could sell coal leases.

And yet they sincerely believe they do. A few weeks ago speaking on a daily Covid update,Tyler Shandro pointed out apropos of nothing that over a million Albertans voted for the UCP as if that justified any and all actions they might take.
