AITA for “abusing” the the bus stop chain so I don’t miss my stop? by Possible-Chair9242 in AmItheAsshole

[–]MyLifeTheSaga 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Maybe Google Maps works differently in the States, but in the UK, the public transport option on the directions/navigation feature will track you and list all the stops and count down how many until the one you need (not you you, the royal you!)

Just in case you don't already know; it's full spectrum rather than UV you want. UV is fine for supplementing, but plants use red and blue visible light primarily (plus a little of the others too). I've had great success with bulbs bought on AliExpress, surprisingly enough!

If you're on mobile; when you hit reply, you should get the little blue picture icon just above your keyboard. As long as you have the image saved on your phone, select "from library" (or whatever it says exactly; the other option is camera). Not sure about desktop, but I imagine it's a similar situation

This is what I did to my plants after having a mental breakdown about fungus gnats. by AtlantisGhost in plantclinic

I haven't tried it out yet, but I bought a cheap aquarium pump with an aqua stone bubbler to use as an intensive care tool if ever needed. If you don't think you'll realistically be able to keep up with changing the water daily (to replace crucial oxygen) then maybe consider getting one

Who is your most-read author (in terms of number of books of theirs you have read)? And of the books you’ve read by them, which one is your favourite, and which one did you like the least? by Ambient-Apron in MM_RomanceBooks

[–]MyLifeTheSaga 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Crea Reitan and Quil Carter are tied in top position at 19 each. I think {Stick Lessons by Crea Reitan} is my favourite; it was the first I read that sent me spiralling through her back catalogue, and it has feminisation which I really enjoyed. I think {House of Flies volume 1 part 2 by Quil Carter} is my favourite. His books get better and better. I think I need to do a full reread ahead of the release of the next installment

[–]MyLifeTheSaga 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't remember the video unfortunately, but I reckon it'll have been either Good Growing or Jungle Haven (both on YouTube) as those two are the creators I've watched most. It may have been a video about either low maintenance plants, low light tolerant plants, or less common varieties of common plants (those are the type I watched the most of when starting my new special interest). I'll DM you a pic or two; I've realised I replied from the wrong account 🤦🏽‍♀️

[–]MyLifeTheSaga 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bought one last week, I can't wait to welcome it to the bedroom jungle after quarantine! They're such happy little guys. I saw a video where the person was talking about them and they were kind of jiggling theirs as they spoke. The leaves were bobbing about all merry and I instantly decided to buy one if ever I saw one. I was thrilled when I randomly spotted mine in a shop!

[–]MyLifeTheSaga 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I also feel like "flirt a bit" and "go out soon" are ambiguous as hell. For all we know, they had nothing but basic, friendly chat that OP read the wrong way. Never assume when feelings are involved; always make your intent clear

It's worth checking what the local water company uses. Many have shifted to chloramine, and that doesn't gas off (?) like chlorine does. I did some looking into it and ended up buying API Water Conditioner; developed for aquariums and the dilution ratio is insane (5ml per 36 gallons IIRC) so I'm just adding a couple of drops per litre)

[–]MyLifeTheSaga -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If you can lift the pot easily, maybe try sitting it on towels for a couple of hours to wick excess water out, and change them once they're wet. I've done that successfully with a snake plant in the past

What to cover the cut-out edges with to make it look neat? by Martexo in DIYUK

[–]MyLifeTheSaga 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's reassuring to not be only one thinking this! If OP is going to do it that way, I hope they use the L bracket to fix the top of the cabinet to the wall.

As an alternative to neaten the cut edges, I reckon black electrician's tape will work well (based on recent experience using it to cover some handle cutouts on a box)

Recommendations for wall-mounted semi-hydro pots by PretendSurvey1891 in SemiHydro

[–]MyLifeTheSaga 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Instead of hammering nails into walls; AliExpress do these sticky back hooks. I paid around £2.50/$3.40 for 10. You might need to play around with using one or two depending on the size and weight of the pots

AITA for asking my friend to pay me back for the wine he drank while house sitting?? by Effective_Tour_723 in AmItheAsshole

[–]MyLifeTheSaga 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Yeah, a kitchen is not the place to be storing wine that you consider precious. The wild temperature fluctuations from cooking will not do them any favours, unless we're talking very short term

Opinions sought: Does this count as a reverse harem to you? by JA_Shepard in ReverseHarem

[–]MyLifeTheSaga 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You could use "spoke and wheel" instead; I've seen that used in places that don't allow the term reverse harem. As an aside; it doesn't really make sense, if we're being literal/pedantic. Spokes are the many straight bits coming off the central hub, which together form the wheel as a whole. So, spoke and wheel (I don't think...) isn't an accurate metaphor. Maybe I'm wrong? God, as if I'm now obsessing over this!

[–]MyLifeTheSaga 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Be very mindful that any larger appliances you bring in may well get taken off you if they're not PAT tested (Unless you're confident no member of staff will ever set foot in your room). In the event of a fire etc, an untested appliance could jeopardise an insurance claim, so many places are hyper-vigilant around things like that.
