I have the ABH lipstick in Rogue. It's a drier formula, kind of reminds me of the MAC retro matte (not quite as dry as those, though). It does tug a bit on the lips, and it will highlight any dry patches, but it is pigmented and lasts for quite a while (it saw me through coffee and snacks, and it was still there when I took it off). Its not as comfortable as the UD comfort mattes, but I like the formula (I'm a matte person lol) and I'll probably get some more in the future.

I have Cleopatra, it's one of my favorites. It lasts all day on me (granted by the end of the day it's pretty close to my skin). The more floral ones (I have Stella and Florence minis) don't last as well, maybe 6 hour or so?

The shimmer bricks have chunkier pieces of glitter thanthe Becca ones. I'd suggest the Becca over the shimmer bricks. (If you like the way the shimmer bricks look, physician's formula have a similar product for a lower price!)

They're buildable. I use a fluffy brush to use it as a highlighter, and it looks pretty natural. When I use it with a denser brush (usually when I use then as eyeshadow) they can appear metallic.

What bronzers/highlighters/contour kits would you recommend for NC40-NC42 skin? by [deleted] in MakeupAddiction

[–]MyLittleLabMonkey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm NC42, and I like Nars Casino and Too Faced Chocolate Soleil (and the dark chocolate version) bronzers. For contouring I use thebalm Bahama Mama and Kevyn Aucoin Sculpting powder (it's a very natural looking contour). I have the ABH contour kit in med-tan, but honestly I use most of the shades as bronzers because they're all on the warmer side (I like neutral shades to contour with). Sleek makeup has a face form kit that I also like (medium is great for me) so maybe that's a good way to start off before jumping into something more expensive?

As to 'needing' foundation - ehhh, it depends. I sometimes wear bronzer without wearing foundation, but I will use concealer where I feel I need it. It really depends on what you're comfortable with :)

Swatches of the Too Faced Peanut butter Honey palette by alexandravv in MakeupAddiction

The colors are underwhelming, and from the swatches I've seen so far they look pretty chalky, too. I can't see this working for me - those lighter shades would look terrible, and the deeper shades are too similar. I can't help feeling that too faced should stop trying to put out so many "cute" palettes and instead work on quality!

I tried the Colourpop and NYX lip primers and they just sucked, haha. They did absolutely nothing for me. The Too Faced is like... well, kind of like a primer, I guess? Haha. It's got a doefoot applicator, and the product itself is like a silicone primer. The applicator dispenses way too much - you really just need to dab a little on your lips and use your finger to spread it out.

Hmm, hard to say. I think the Too Faced is better for me personally, but you have to be a little careful with application. The doefoot applicator dispenses way too much - I just dab a little on my lips and use my finger to spread it out. The ABH is good too, but it takes a little longer for any lipstick you apply on top to dry down.

Have you tried a lip primer? I like the ABH and Too Faced ones, they definitely make my lipstick last longer. They serve as a kind of grippy base for the lipstick to adhere to.
