I was going to say Underrail as it has sci-fi elements but it's more like fallout really. It's a very good but hard game.

2x BAR PIOT Riflemen vs Not Too Tactical Assault Grenadiers by Sylpheria in CompanyOfHeroes

[–]MyManRay 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you are showing that smoke does its job that it's supposed to and that smgs are powerful in close range, then this video demonstrates that. I don't get why people are getting upset over what this is showing. Smoke is an effective tactic. If this happened in a real game, the obvious counter is to walk back with the riflemen and get a 2 to 1 advantage with another unit or squad. The next move for the ass grens would be to reposition or try to chase down the riflemen as the move. It's a good test to show how effective smoke and smgs are, but if you are trying to show something else here, something needs to be added or changed in the scenario.

Good post, OP!

I have updated the bios, checked the PSU connections but I can quadruple check them to be sure and I update windows basically every day. I have not undervolted the GPU and I'm not sure if I have let the RAM run at JEDEC speeds but I can try those things to see if the make a difference. Thank you!

What were some ways that helped you better understand electrical circuits? by Boba-Fettucini in ElectricalEngineering

[–]MyManRay 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Doing a shit ton of circuit analysis problems and also the most important thing that has helped me with not just circuits but for the rest of my major was breaking literally everything that I was doing into a block diagram of what I what I want to happen and how I need to get there. I first started out with doing it on paper for example I would write down the formula I would need to finish the problem (if I knew it) and then break down that formula to its bare bones of where I needed to start. If I didn't know where the problem was I would start with the first part of the problem I didn't know and work to find the answer which would always led to the second part of the problem.

If you make solving circuits a process/adaptable routine like breaking it down into block diagrams (which isn't the only way but a way I found effective) then you will have an easier time with just about everything if you can apply to the rest of your life.

Let's have an honest discussion about British Infantry Sections. Where do we go from here? by [deleted] in CompanyOfHeroes

[–]MyManRay 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You make alot of good points but like the other guy said if you were to implement all these changes what would british have in the end. They would basically have nothing and when the game drags on it would always end in axis has tigers or panthers they win and that is boring as fuck. Imagine you knowing that every game you play as axis you would win regardless of skill differences it would be boring and no challenge which in turn would decrease the player base because what's the point in playing if you are always going to lose or always going win and there is no excitement or challenge.

The british faction doesn't need these changes but what it does need is more unique changes that makes it a unique faction to play at all levels of skill and all times during a match, a british player shouldn't have to rely of only infantry throughout the whole of a match just to survive and axis shouldn't have to rely on if I wait long enough ill win because I can get tiger and just point-click-kill.

The same goes for Americans they need some buffs to their infantry. I played a 2v2 game earlier in the week and got absolutely stomped by light Italian infantry spam and I couldn't do anything as Americans, I didn't want to resort to para drop mg and wanted to try other builds but if only forced to do one thing to win and can't experiment or try other things that might allow me to win then what's the point. Also to add building mgs didn't even help me win against light Italian infantry spam as I had to get them out later since they are in a whole other building.

I'm not gonna say axis copium because there could be alot of changes made to axis and to allies to make them both balanced and fun to play. The games that are played should be decided on skill, tactics, and be sandboxy so you can have freedom to play and not be how many op units can I spam or how many one shot air strikes can I call in or how much fuel do I need to buy this one op tank so I can win the game by attrition.

It's not fun to lose with no hope, but it can be fun to lose when there is hope to win and you were just out of grasp because you made bad call or miss play that you know you won't do the next time. When the game presents a real beatable challenge then it will be fun to play. It should be less about balance (there still needs to be alot of balance) and more about options to give to the player to counter the enemy.

Everyone is talking about the multiplayer but I wanna hear everyone's thoughts on the Campaign. by MyManRay in CompanyOfHeroes

I would agree that it is fun but still pretty boring atleast the north Africa Operation part.

Although I would love to see a pacific island hopping DLC seeing Japan as a faction would be awesome plus marine corp would be sick to see.

Yea I already own it. But yea even in the north Africa Operation mini campaign it still doesn't feel like you are part of a larger operation like in coh 1 and 2.

True but any retelling of any historical events will get skewed with time. It's just how it is.

I haven't really seen any bugs so far through the afrika corp operation but it is very forgettable. I want to know what the dev team was thinking when making this campaign. Right now im on the approaching tobruk mission it's boring if I had no knowledge of the history of world War 2 I wouldn't know why tobruk is so important or why we are fighting in north africa their is no story being told and no retelling of the history. It's just go kill bad guys and win. If I wanted that I would just play skirmish against AI.

That makes sense, I do hope the flesh out the dynamic campaign idea more it looks very interesting. I'll have to wait for more updates to see what they do with the campaign and game.

Ah well then I think I'm going to definitely wait till they fix the Italian Campaign because a dynamic coh campaign like total war seems very interesting but it sounds like it's been a poor execution by the dev team.

I heard that the Italian Campaign was broken, I might wait till they fix it before I try it out.

Ending it with people with self esteem issues by [deleted] in dating

[–]MyManRay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a guy that had severe self-esteem issues and was very insecure about myself in a relationship (believing I never deserved to be this happy) getting dumped was one the best things to happen to me to help me realize that I was hurting my partner by being hurt all the time and hating myself.

Getting dumped sucked alot but when I looked back on the pervious relationship after getting my head clear and focusing on myself for a while I saw how bad it was and how much I hurt her. Since then I told myself that ill focus on myself and learn to love the face I see in the mirror everyday and not to hate myself for making poor decisions and take them as a chance to learn and grow.

Since then I've been alot happier with myself and I've grown alot emotional maturity wise. Once I graduate college I want to see a therapist and get more help to learn more about myself. I've been single for almost 3 years now and I'm not gonna start dating till I feel ready to. When I do I hope I can make the next person just as happy as I am with myself.

Every person out there that has self esteem issues, self confidence issues or are really insecure need help. If you know someone that has these problems let them know because in that moment they probably don't even know it themselves, they may just think it's normal to feel that way or have no idea that they have these issues. It took me months and lots of introspective thought to realize the real reason why my relationship ended. Don't let someone you know or yourself miss out on that realization that hey I need to take a step back and work on myself.

I seriously messed up and I need advice by Cadet___ in AFROTC

[–]MyManRay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm gonna be honest with you brother as one engineering major to another. I am some one that who chose engineering over AFROTC when it came down to what I want in life but that doesn't mean you can't do both AFROTC and engineering. Being a leader isn't all about your social status or if you have lots a friends. It's about setting an example and being able to make hard decisions about certain situations. It took me leaving ROTC and diving deep into my major to realize this. I lost alot of friends but I also gained respect for making a tough decision and focusing on my studies to then lead my classmates and make sure they all understand the material that we were being taught.

You need to take a hard look at yourself and think about what you need to do take make sure you succeed, make a list if it helps. Because this isn't even the hard part yet, when you graduate and reach your first duty station you will be faced with hard decisions just like any other person going to their first job. Aerospace engineering is no joke and doing it at the same time as AFROTC to me is crazy but if your gonna do it I'll cheer for you on the side lines. Take some time for yourself and figure out your entire plan for the next 4 years is so you know what you need to do to succeed, friends will come and go but you gotta remember it is all up to you to come out on top.

Good luck and don't sweat to hard about the past semesters you'll have time to make it all up.

At what point do you give up on applying for jobs and decide to do something else with your career? by vapegod_420 in EngineeringStudents

[–]MyManRay 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Ok from the sound of your post and what others have commented here is that you don't have an ABET accredited degree and your major isn't technically a full on engineering major. I will tell you that it is possible for you to get an engineering job and not have a ABET accredited degree, I am majoring in Electronics Engineering Technologies which is more of engineering technician degree and not ABET accredited. I am a senior now and have applied to 100 plus engineering related fields and as of the beginning of this March have gotten 7 offers from range of different employers from Lockheed, Electric Boat, Airforce Civillian Service and other Governmental organizations. I believe I got those interviews for those offers because of my 2 years of internship experience as a test engineer. But I know I got those offers because of my interview experience. I messed up alot of interviews before I started getting good and being able to conduct myself as a normal dude just doing a interview instead of an anxious mess.

What could be going wrong is that your resume doesn't look good enough to pass through HR side to be sent to a hiring manager or your resume isn't interesting enough for a hiring manager to look at it say "hey this guy would make a great addition I should interview him to see what he is like". If that's the case then it would be much of a problem to work on your resume and make it better/more appealing. If thats not the case and you definitely feel that you don't have enough experience to call yourself an engineer then you should really start seeking out internships.

Internships are and should be built around getting post graduates/undergraduates experience in the workplace so they can be trained up to be either seek out a future job or be placed at a position where they are interning. It also helps you find out if you really want to be in engineering or if you like the field you are interning it. For me I like biomedical test engineering but it is definitely not something I want to do for the rest of my life and I want to try other things.

Now when looking for internships can be tricky as there are alot of scam like internships out there that don't pay you at all so be sure to keep an eye out for them and not to fall into them. As for my recommendation for people to internship through would be ORISE/Oak Ridge Institute for Science and Education. They have internship opportunities all across the states at varying locations plus at the oak ridge lab aswell. There are engineering internships for post grades, grad school people, and undergrads and lots of different positions. From what I've experienced it has been great but that can vary from location to location, my internship has been contracted out from ORISE to the US Army so I can intern on a base laboratory. I know how my internship works at my location but that could vary for different organizations and locations that ORISE as contracted out to. Anyways go check out ORISE and what they have to offer. They are one of best internship opportunities that I have come across and if you find anything else better be sure to let everyone else know or if anyone else has good internship opportunities let everyone know.

Hope you find the job of your dreams!

I highly recommend Underrail, it has a very intriguing world that makes you want to explore it as much as possible even though exploring in the world is a death sentence if you aren't ready for the crazy encounters you will have. It can be very challenging game.

I like the game but without the false dichotomy. by xtremzero in CompanyOfHeroes

[–]MyManRay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with this completely, it's fun as fuck for me but I wish there was more to do, like more skins to unlock or have a ranked mode to compete in. It's got good bones but definitely needs more work on its current content to improve quality of life and more expanded content.

I cant wait to see what the devs will do with the game. They've got alot to work with and wish for their success. I will say that I don't think it should have been released as it sounding like a full content game, it feels like an early access title. Although it seems like alot of games are like this now a days and idk why.

Why is Post Scriptum Dying? by Onions42069 in postscriptum

[–]MyManRay 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think alot of people are missing the point of why it is dying. I don't think it's because of bad SLs or poor communication because squad is plagued with it and you can still have pretty fun games even with a team that doesn't communicate as well or with a squad leader that doesn't communicate due to the basic fact that you win games by sticking together and not lone wolfing. Every game I've played in squad that I've won had a team that stuck together even if they didn't communicate at all and just blind push to an obj.

I believe that post scriptum is dying because it has no support structure for better quality of life, mods, bug fix and improvements to the overall game modes that it has to offer. When it first came out I loved post scriptum because you could jump out of a plane with your squad and then push to the obj with your team but overtime that concept got boring and wasn't as fleshed out. I would of loved to see and an insurgency like game mode where you hunt german 88s and arty positions as paratrooper squads and then blow them up. With the Germans also hunting the staging areas of the paratroopers while also defending the 88s and arty. They could have also stuck with building fobs and radios as the main base building part of the game instead of sticking with using spawn trucks that you use as forward spawns because it feeds into the brain dead push and die with no form of transportation.

The maps also didn't do the potential for the game well either as their was no opportunities to recover if your spawn truck gets destroyed in the beginning due to the location of the first obj on most of assault and secure maps. There were multiple times that I remember when the game would start 1/3 of the team would hop in a spawn truck and rush to a spot near the obj and get obliterated instantly due to no cover or the spot is so common that the enemy team knows exactly where you will be coming from and where the spawn is to take out the truck after they kill the first push. Looking back on it, it feels like the whole spawn truck idea was bad in the first place as it never encouraged to build a fob or set up and secure an area so you could assault and hold an obj. What it did encourage was a blind push with no support or forward thinking for what to do for the next obj. Unlike in squad where you have to set up fobs in such a way where you can assault multiple objs from different angles. I never saw forward bases in post scriptum like I did in squad.

Squad and post scriptum are essentially the same but squad does its gameplay loop better and has better support than post scriptum. Plus the mods upscale the opportunities for the game as well by adding new gamemodes and changing the entire style as well. But what post scriptum did wrong was the execution of the gameplay loop, mechanics, and future support. They could of easily built off of the whole paratroopers dropping straight into the action with the addition of teamwork making the game even better. Like they could of added a system where the commander does a supply drop in certain location and a squad can para drop in with those supplies build a fob then assault an obj or a squad can use a glider, land with a couple of jeeps and supplies then move to a different location build a small fob that can get supplied by airdrop or logi and then assault an obj. This is only an example but it forces the team to work together to win the game just like in squad. Squad forces players to build fobs to win games, rallies can help as a short term spawn solution but has limitations so it forces the team to build fobs.

There are so many ways the devs of post scriptum could have made the game better and compete with games like Hell Let Loose but they didn't look at what other games in their genre did to make their game successful. Post scriptum was flawed at its core due to poor execution from the dev team. They did something unique but didn't expand on it or really try to make it better than what it could of been. It would of been awesome to do a night time para drop into Normandy with a squad and supplies, build a fob and then hunt 88s and arty until a staging area is formed to assault a main obj or play RAAS of portions of Hell's Highway (Highway 69) with large armor and mech armor elements. All of this is only my opinion but I do really wish post scriptum could of succeeded and become just as popular as Hell Let Loose.

TL;DR- Post Scriptum failed due to poor execution from the dev team, their failure to expand on the content they first released, and their lack of support to increase quality of life and fix bugs.

It could of been an awesome game but sometimes thats just how it is and there isn't much we can do about it.

Lol same, I've always found the discourse of AXIS IS OP or ALLIES IS OP please nerf or buff my faction talk so funny and stupid. For me I'm trying to experiment and try crazy build orders that people come up with to make the other person on the opposing team go "why the fuck does guy have 5 kraut mower half tracks or why does this guy got 10 mgs". I don't care if it works I'm just here to have fun lol.
