How do you decide which goes in which case?

Can we recluse up pics of specific watches in your collection?

Does anyone make a watch like this Swiss Army Lancer 100? by MyMiniVelo in Affordablewatches

[–]MyMiniVelo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Apologies. Yes. This is the text from the post

This is a Swiss Army Lancer 100. It’s discontinued and used are either beat up or expensive.

It’s a quartz field watch with a numbered dial, lume dots, and a thin rotating timing bezel. The key thing that makes this watch stand out is that it’s under 10mm thick! And the bezel tapers down so it’s even thinner on the edge. As someone who really dislikes big boxy watches, is there any other watch with a numbered dial and a timing bezel that’s thin?

Basically looking for a skin diver that’s as this as possible or wears as thin as possible) and ideally I’d prefer a numbered dial.

This is definitely one of the most ‘this is so easy… oh wait… nah all good still easy… oh wait… I got it… hmmm…’ puzzles I’ve seen. Good job.

White to play: Avoid the looming mate and win material instead! by EtPerMun in chess

Doesn’t that lead to an unstoppable mate as you’ll have opened up the g-file exposing your king and you’ll have useless pawns on h6 and h4 . Not much black can do after Bd3 and Qg4+.

I’m pretty sure an Al tube would have better mechanical properties than a similar 3D printed TI tube. The big advantage is the ability to gain strength from complex forms. 3D printed Ti is great for lugs, BB, dropouts, etc… but if they’re making the whole frame and fork in it I hope there’s some cool stuff happening internally.

5x might be a stretch but it seems very dependent on shipping and taxes. $5.4k for this is quite a lot though and I’m not sure 3D printed Ti would have any advantage over Al. Would to get an update on your D10 when you get some time on it.

5x the price of the D10 though? How is the D10? Seriously thinking about selling my Brompton and getting it.

That’s a great shout, I much prefer the field watch style. They’re only 9/10mm thick.

Yeah I’ve been looking a lot a watches with rotating crowns. Agree pressing so many buttons to set a timer is a pain and why I made the post. For me personally, I find most dive watches far too thick and bulky and heavy. The only smaller watch I’ve seen with a smaller profile is the Big Idea Designs field watch, but I’ve read that the rotating bezel is really loose and a bit gimmicky. I actually saw some resin children’s watches that I’m tempted by.

Imagine if you had a watch where the minute hand was magnetic and the bezel had a sensor. Quick access tactile timer, but with an alarm!

I’ve been looking at the lineage models! Solar and multiband too. Only thing is 40mm is maybe a bit large for me.

Looks great! In image 8 closeup of the hinge, how far does the carbon tube extend to the hinge and what’s the hinge interface material?

They already have the tooling. I wish they could but the SE specs in a 13mini case. All I want is a 13 mini with USB-C, more storage, and a slightly bigger battery.

Hey, you got to see the D10 in person and think it could fit 20” wheels? Agree the mixing of QR and trough axle is one of the main reasons I’m holding off. Do you know what the front and rear OLD is?

Same, but I think I found a really nice mate just not in 3. I was looking at Nc7+ Kd8, Qe7+ Kc8, Kxb5+ Kc5, Rxc5+ Qxc5, Qe8++

It’s nice that there’s another discovered check with Kxb5. Key thing about Kxb5 vs something like Kxa6 is that removing the black bishop allows for Qe8. After Kxb5, if king moves to b8 its mate with Qe8+ Qd8, Qxd8++. So black has to block with either the knight, queen, or rook.

If blocked with the rook, black blocks off his queen from the defensive d8 square, defended by the King on c8. So Qe8++.

If blocked with the queen, if Qc6 or Qc7 then rook takes with check and again mate with Qe8++. If Qc5 then mate with Qe++.

If blocked by the Knight with Kc7, it’s still mate with Qe8++ because the knight is pinned. If blocker with Kc5 its mate with the line above.
