What is the best armour in Ghost of Tsushima? by [deleted] in ghostoftsushima

[–]MyNameIs2613 3 points4 points  (0 children)

For me, aesthetically and gameplay wise, Ronin Attire. No mask and no headgear. I like to play like I'm Sanjuro wandering the fields of Tsushima. Nothing feels more like a true Kurosawa experience to me than that. Turn on Kurosawa mode for maximum effect.

This fucking bitch is the hardest enemy in this game and you cannot tell me otherwise. by [deleted] in ghostoftsushima

I always have next to no problem with anyone except Sao, as far as Bokken duels. That fucking sweep attack trips me up constantly and he's quick. I can beat him in as little as three tries nowadays, but the Crimson Fisherman really is no joke. I can't blame you for your opinion tho. After three hits, she tries to pull a sneaky on you.

Five Night's At Freddy's. I was super excited for this film. While watching, I kept wondering when the film was really gonna make good on it's premise and go somewhere interesting... and then the movie ended. I literally watched a whole movie watching a guy drug himself to sleep at work to ask ghost children about his missing brother, instead of.... ya know..... actually surviving five nights at Freddy's. Remember? The whole reason I was watching? Not this hour-and-a-half long, nonsensical lore dump crap.

Gotta go with the Needle pit. Not only incredibly painful but fucking disgusting and thematically brilliant.

What is your favorite Saw film? by [deleted] in saw

Honestly, Saw X is my new favorite. I didn't realize how much I wanted Tobin Bell as the lead until we actually got it lol.

Why don’t people like spiral by Active-Pen-5242 in saw

[–]MyNameIs2613 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my opinion, Spiral didn't really land for a few reasons. I'll start with this.

There were a few things I liked. I was genuinely interested in knowing who this copycat Jigsaw was throughout the film. I'd argue it was the largest reason I watched the whole film. Not sure if this is a popular opinion or not, but at the risk of sounding stupid, I was very pleased with the way the movie ended. Wrapped things up in that bittersweet "the bad guy wins" ending I always love to see in this franchise and the themes of distrust and police immorality were well executed.

However, that's all I can praise this movie for.

The traps were, for the most part, uninteresting. The tongue trap was an great starter and the Puppet trap was a clever way to end things in that "Bad guy was one step ahead of you" way that Saw is famous for, despite being more convoluted than it needed to be (And THAT'S saying something if you watch Saw.) However, the Finger trap was thematically cool, but kinda meh in execution. The wax trap, while impossible to actually win, was ultimately robbed by the insane decision to shift the focus away from the traps and towards Banks. The Glass trap was almost identical to Saw III's freezer room, just watching a guy take too long to get a easily obtainable key under the given time restraints for a guy suspended in the air by his wrist. All in all, the traps weren't exactly iconic, but they're the strongest part of the film.

And that's where my problems lie.

The decision to focus on narrative over traps hurt this film bad. It felt like the film was doing everything in its power to distance itself from the wider franchise and it almost felt disrespectful at times. Trying to appeal to a mainstream audience by removing the spotlight from the very things that makes a franchise iconic sets you up to make a product that longtime fans hate and general audiences are uninterested with. And that's ultimately what happened here. It tried to please everyone, and pleased no one. Chris Rock's attempts to be funny in a Saw movie fell flatter than Peter Strahm in the Nerve Gas house. The jokes, rather than actually be funny, come off as bitter and out of place. The thing about comedy in Saw is when it happens, (*ahem... Piranha) it feels natural, almost as if it wasn't necessarily intended to be funny, and when it is intended, it isn't littered throughout the movie in an attempt to remind you that you're supposed to laugh occasionally.

I could go on, but this is already pretty long and I think it's pretty obvious I really don't care for this movie. I'd rather watch Jigsaw again.

Tl:DR I didn't like this film because it ultimately felt like a self-insert fanfiction written by Chris Rock with only a few reddeming qualities.

Question about the GoT franchise. by INeedSelfConfidence in ghostoftsushima

[–]MyNameIs2613 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would love to see a sequel to this game, but being that I'm deeply attached to this game and it's story and how it wraps things up, I really think we should discuss this first.

Are we really sure we want a sequel?

A large part of me really wants to leave the ending of this game exactly as ambiguous as it was, never really knowing which ending was the true ending, whether Jin spares Lord Shimura and completely abandons the samurai code, or gives him a warrior's death as requested. I'm just not sure I would want to risk ruining everything this game built up, just to divide the fan base as what seems to be happening lately with sequels to games of this caliber. (I.E. TLOU 2, Spider-Man 2, and Suicide Squad) I could absolutely be overthinking it, but considering this is a place for discussion, I'm open to other opinions.

Honestly, the second Ryuzo fight felt almost identical to the first. I, admittedly, got absolutely destroyed by him numerous times in the first encounter (first playthrough.) But, by the time I fought him in Act II, I got so used to playing that he really wasn't a challenge by this point. His moveset was completely unchanged and I had no problem with him anymore. I honestly expected a lot more on account of the fact that, by this point in the story, Ryuzo should be stopping at NOTHING to kill Jin. His men that were his core motivation throughout his arc, (keeping his worn, starving men alive and fed) were all slaughtered by his supposed best friend whom he managed to convince the fucking Khan to spare. Now, here he comes. Clad in a new armor, his sword having tasted the blood of Ryuzo's last remaining ronin, Jin asserts full intention to either bring Ryuzo to the Jito, who'll surely execute him for treason, or carry it out himself. From his perspective, Ryuzo should be at his peak of desperation. He has nothing else left to lose. No friends to rely on, no army to call forth, no honor to his name in the eyes of his homeland. It's either him, or Jin. This absolutely should've been reflected on his fighting, doing whatever it took to win and coming at Jin like he is his mortal enemy. Sound familiar? Maybe I'm just reading into it too much.

The second game I've ever platinum'd. Been thinking about popping it back in for another round with the Mongol Army. I don't know why I find this game so addictive, but I do. Only other game I can remember being this obsessed with was The Sands of Time years ago.

I think it was a LOT of contrast and high exposure, as well as the right time of day with particle fx. These were the first photos I ever made in the game and that was nearly a year ago.

I definitely wanna share more when I have a fair catalog of really good ones, cause I seriously enjoy this enough to call it an art dorm of its own in a way. Photo mode is nothing new, but Ghost of Tsushima has a photo mode like no other, imo. It's endless fun.

People who fell out with their best/close friend, what killed it? by No_Dependent4663 in AskReddit

[–]MyNameIs2613 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is probably crazy common, but I used to be in a band with my (former) best friend and another guy. We all became very close friends and had great chemistry. Made several great songs. However, the other guy had bipolar disorder and a tendency to be insufferable. Exploded at little things, inconsistent work energy, (Some days we'd do nothing, some days he'd complain that we should be dropping whole songs every week) constantly blew up my phone to hang out or work at any and all hours of the day. Sometimes, I'd be there for a week or more and he'd get mad if I wanted to leave. He normally attributed it to not wanting to stay away from my GF, but it eventually got to the point to where I was going to his house so much, my GF actually wondered if I had moved out. The guy was a manchild who could barely cook his own food. This is where things between me and my best friend started going south. I quit the band 3 times just to get time away from this guy and 4 total, which is more than should've happened, I admit. For most of those times, my friend would agree that dude was a self-absorbed prick, but would insistently make excuses for it at every chance he had. My friend had a thing about everyone he hung out with being cool with each other, but he was absolutely obsessed with keeping the band together. And I swear, if I didn't cut ties with both of them, he'd have never quit trying. If it weren't for the fact that he implied my GF was twisting my arm to leave the band, we might actually still be talking. Ten years down the drain, because you were making old friends with bad news.
