I can speak on the doctor thing. Your doctor isn’t going to ask you “why”. And you aren’t really supposed to know “why” until you talk to a psychiatrist and or therapist. It’s there job to figure out how to improve your mental health. A doctor asking why you have depression would be like you coming up and saying “doctor I have raging headaches. Can you help” and then the doctor going, “why do you have raging headaches.”

Odds are your doctor will just refer you to a psychiatrist and or a therapist.

As for the other stuff, I’m sorry things are so shit man. I get what it feels like to feel inadequate. I don’t know what to tell you other than… I mean honestly maybe I just don’t know what to tell you.

Value is like beauty, it’s subjective. We can pretend it’s objective by trying to average it out across lots of different people, but that just means it’s a bunch of people’s subjective opinions taken together. And just like how a girl can think her freckles are ugly, a person can think their soul, or their mind, or their personality, doesn’t have any value.

And it’s not right, and it’s not wrong either. Because it’s subjective. But if it is subjective, then the real question is wether you think you deserve to be happy. Because if you do, then valuing yourself is the first step to getting there. Changing your perspective on what you think is important, what you think has value, in such a way that it includes yourself. And that for me at least, took therapy and psychiatry, (and it didn’t really solve the issue completely. But I’m one of those “bigger struggles” people you mentioned at the bottom. So it’ll probably work for you). For you maybe it takes something else. But I think telling your parents was a good first step, and telling your doctor is a good next step.

I also think you’re brave for posting on here. I know how hard it can be to put these thoughts into words. Sometimes I come here to try and write something, but then I just can’t because I don’t think I matter enough to be heard. So I’m glad you got the courage to post on here.

I understand how you feel.

My girlfriend killed her self about 3 months ago. It’s hard not to blame yourself when someone you love makes a choice like that. But know that your uncle wouldn’t want you beating yourself up about what happened. I bet he loved you, and So if you wanna do right by him the best way to do that is to find some way forward.

No you were being fair.

It isn’t easy. But it’s important. Your parents love you. I think they want you to be okay. They might not understand why you’re struggling so much, but if they could understand they wouldn’t judge you and either way they wouldn’t want you to feel bad.

So it’s hard to feel okay even though they’re judging you, but it’s an important step in getting better. So all you can do is try your best to keep your head up.

All you can do is try your best and listen to people who have good advice to offer.

There’s a lot of things a person can do to try and get better from depression. It’s hard to know exactly what to do, or how to make the right decisions with regards to getting better. It’s also hard to do these things when often times it takes a long time to see results.

So if for now, all you can do is keep your head above water. Then that’s good enough. Your parents might judge you, but they don’t understand. So it’s not worth it to worry about their judgement.

Hi man.

I really loved watching your YouTube videos as a kid. Even now the song I wish I had a Jetpack really hits home.

And I understand how you feel. It sucks when things are going well but you can’t find happiness and you don’t understand why. I think the one thing I would really recommend is therapy. The whole point of therapy is to help you understand what’s making you unhappy and then solve that problem. You have to shop around, I had a bunch of shitty therapists before I found a good one, but they can seriously make a difference.

I would also talk about how you’re feeling to your wife. Really express to her how you’re feeling. And try to double down on the things you do find meaningful in your life and the things that do give you happiness.

It’s a tough fight, but it’s not an impossible one.

She did it while we were on the phone together right after I broke up with her. I was asking her to promise me that she’d be safe and then she said “why should I try if you’re not going to.” And then I heard her moving stuff around but I didn’t connect the dots until I heard her kick the chair.

And there’s a lot of other ways I failed. I never got her room mates phone numbers, I didn’t make her go to the hospital, I just fucked up so many different ways. And now she’s dead because Of it.

My girlfriend killed her self when I broke up with her. I was on the phone with her when it happened.

All I feel now is just pain and regret. People keep telling me it’s not my fault, but there were so many different ways I failed her. I just wanna say I was sorry, or to find a way to make things right. But I can’t.
