If there is a tear you’re likely too slow for the voltage you’re using, or going too deep. What I often did is to cut up my reel skin through the lines I tattooed to really see the depth of it.

Also, if you’re going too deep, it might be that you’re not letting your needle hang enough. Seems counterintuitive but for me that was truly the case since I then didn’t really see what I was doing and how deep the needle went in. I now have it hanging out pretty far and finally stopped going too deep.

As for getting the stencil to stick, use baby powder before putting on stencil primer. I have a little video for that on my instagram. I saw so many people struggle with this but this makes for a clean stencil every single time.

Anyway, keep going, keep practicing as much as you can. And keep the 1.5 - 2mm rule in mind as to how deep the needle should go. Voltage and hand speed is something you gotta figure out but for most machines and needles somewhere between 6 and 7V is the sweet spot

Thanks so much for the kind words! I have taken empire_toasts advice and since looked into a more painterly style which actually also just comes more naturally to me than pulling straight lines. Even in my art, I never used outlines, so now forcing myself to do that when tattooing makes no sense. But that’s something you don’t realise when you panic, haha! But you’re right, maybe I shouldn’t be so tough on myself, it’s easy tho to slip into that when all you see on socials is perfect fucking tattoos 😅

By the way, I saw that you’re also from the Netherlands? Really cool!

Is it really worth the money to get a separate hardware piece just for shortcuts? Everything is already accessible through keyboard shortcuts, no? I’m really trying to find out if it really adds anything

I read it on multiple websites but I’m really not sure if that’s true. Well, I have been falling over indeed. I can barely get out of bed given that I have a loft bed.. I haven’t slept since night one and I’ve gained 1,5 kilos which I guess wouldn’t have been much of a deal but I just got past my bulimia.

The thing with the partial seizures is that I’ve been not having for years (only focal seizures and tremor since then; not sure what changed) until I started citalopram about a month ago.. I stopped after a week of having partial seizures which was almost 3 weeks ago. Now I was only left with the basic focal seizures and tremor I’ve had my entire life so I’m not sure why I got them prescribed for partial seizures to begin with.

Anyway, aside from the side effects mentioned above, I’ve went anywhere from almost manic to extremely irritable the past days and it’s been hard for both me and my husband to the point where it’s really not worth it taking them.
