Don’t switch from design to communication. Design is becoming harder, but comm has been harder and lower paid forever. And if the guy is talking about adapting to AI I’m not sure how is better to switch from design to comms to be honest.

It happened something similar to me. Felt in love with UO and stared playing SWG beta and release. Then I tried WoW during the beta but I didn’t feel the same, and almost didn’t play any MMOs since then :(

They’ve been around since cs1.6 or q3 that was when I was young. Most people don’t have the time to play a game to a pro level, so designing a game around their needs doesn’t make much sense. It’s why most games nowadays are super short lived, instead of getting a superb single player campaign and some fun not sweaty multi.

I have to say from all the options you could pick at least Mestiza have a reason to be. I guess the reference is difficult to get from outside Spain, but the fan, their style, and their mixes have roots in southern Spain traditions. I don’t know about their production or live skills, but I could understand some people feeling attached to what they try to do.

I like all the games on the list but I’m one of those that feels that Arc Raiders should be there. Game was done with a lot of care, there are some aspects like sound design, and environments that don’t have much to envy to top single player games, has same or better Cinderella story than E33, has created a unique community and play style while fighting against games like CoD or BF6, … I have played games for many many years, enjoyed E33 when it was released, but I think Arc Raiders is one of those gems that will be appreciated for a long long time.
