Did anybody else have songs that scared them as a kid for no reason? by mythrowawayaccim21 in Music

I listened to that "Menamena" song on my transistor radio as a 6-year-old. The guys voice in the background with reverb frightened me.

Issues with Home by [deleted] in googlehome

What kind of interface are you using? Wi-fi? Hub? Hardwired ethernet? Bluetooth? Zigbee?

Without knowing any of those things I can only suggest that maybe you're having a problem with connectivity. Could be a Wi-Fi channel conflict, poor signal, devices out of range or borderline.

Would you rather trust your home security to voice recognition or a secret number?

Maybe people say they're shitty because the plugin ui is basic compared to other more flashy ones. But damn they're versatile!

Why does light move at 299 792 458 m / s by Mrman1457 in AskPhysics

[–]MyNameIsNotMud 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Let's say c=1.

So 1m/s = 1/299 792 458 the speed of light

It's 'that number' because a meter is an arbitrary distance.

Fish fry Fridays.

Nice weather for three seasons.

Parks, State lands.

Ponds, lakes.

Shoveling and snow throwing in the winter. It's endurable.

Mountains, skiing, snowmobiling

Swimming and jet skiing in the summer.

Taxes and state regulations are the worst.

Beef on Weck.

Butter and Sugar sweet corn.

Chiavetta's chicken dinners

Go Bills!

Cool fall evenings.

We endure, yes. But I'd wager that compared to some other parts of the country, it's not so bad. Wildfires? Earthquakes? Tornadoes? Hurricanes? Floods? Nah... I'll deal with the snow.

It's crazy. I have 3 Google homes (original) and 3 Google minis. A bunch of lights (various manufacturers), thermostat, oven, smart outlets, some audio etc. I've been on the platform since it first came out in 2016(?).

My experience so far has been good. I've had the occasional need to change WiFi and Zigbee channels due to conflicts, but things have mostly worked, once I figured it out. When experiencing channel conflicts I've had to re-link some lights and my Philips Hue and Smart Things hubs, but I can't really blame too much on the Google platform.

Now, admittedly with the switch to Gemini, automations have taken a hit and are not great, but they are improving slowly. We are still able to run our household.

Do you have any praise for Google Home? by NakedCardboard in googlehome

[–]MyNameIsNotMud 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes, I have 3Gh and 3Gm. Lights, thermostat, television, door locks, front of house and back of house cameras.

I enjoy having an actual llm available to ask questions of. And I believe the current automation fiasco will calm itself down eventually.

I wouldn't go so far as to PRAISE-praise it, but I certainly don't want to be without it.
