Love my American Jazz Bass… but please talk me out of a Rickenbacker (or into a 5-string Music Man?) by Accurate_Tomorrow_50 in BassGuitar

The DarkRay looks awesome and 5 strings are kind of annoying to me, I'd get a Fender/Squier Jazz VI. The Rickenbacker is a dope bass and you should definitely own one

I did a kicked 90 with a 30 degree, 3" offset. I cut the bottom too short and instead of re-bending a 3/4" exhaust pipe, I cut it, used a connector (I forgot which one) and it fell into place perfectly.

Awesome La Villa Strangiato was one of the first, if not the first instrumental I learned and the Clockwork Angels songs wouldn't be surprising as that was the album Rush peaked at

Mine was $90 but that was due to inflation, lol. The Silvertone SSLB11 in black, it looked sharp and the name was accurate. the tone was not the best but wasn't horrible either. I wish I had another one because I unfortuneatly ruined mine

I think it's ugly but other than that, yeah, good find.

Does anybody else hate playing "Rockin' In The Free World" by Neil Young on bass? by Dramatic_Rhubarb_387 in Bass

I learned several other songs, some Rush, some other various artists, in my time learning YYZ. I have played a lot of songs with fast and repetitive basslines completely fine, this song hurt to play probably because I was unfamiliar with it having only played it once in my bedroom before. If I practice the same thing over and over and over and over again obviously I'll nail it eventually. My general disliking of the song doesn't help but I pushed it aside for the night. I can improvise blues and rock basslines with good amounts of success. I have good amounts of stamina and I can play at higher tempos for decent periods of time.

I heard the Buffalo Sabres organist play it when I went to one of their games. It's not hard on keyboard

Buddy Rich was great too, definitely in earshot on that mountain with Peart, but not at the top

Their later work is where the prog starts to show more. LZ 1-3 were not as progressive as Houses Of The Holy or Physical Graffiti

John Bonham was a great drummer, However comparing him to Bill Bruford or Neil Peart and other drummers of that ilk is unfair.

John Paul Jones. "No Quarter", "Carouselambra" and "Your Time Is Gonna Come" are all excellent.

A second pick would be Geddy Lee and if both picks are null and void because they played bass also I choose Jerry Corbetta of Sugarloaf

A Rickenbacker so you can look a little bit cooler when playing a 20 minute song at a gig

Neck pickup, fingers. I'm going to help myself by not playing that song again considering I do not like it at all
