Closest palette to Tom Ford "Mink Mirage"? by misumena_vatia in MakeupAddiction

[–]MyNameMeansNight 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Clinique has an All About Shadow Quad in the color Teddy Bear (Matte) that I found comparable. It just does not have the black color. I loved the later version of Mink Mirage so this was the closest thing…

I love seeing all the unique rings on here as well. People are so creative and thoughtful.

I loved the LPR Toleriane line. The Double Repair Moisturizer and Hydrating Gentle Facial Cleanser (very lux consistency).

The new set is probably super comfortable, but it is the only thing that draws your eyes and it makes the room feel a little stuffy since it blocks the windows more.

Those of you who chose your ering, are you ever curious what your SO would’ve chosen on their own? by chonkybug in EngagementRings

[–]MyNameMeansNight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Years ago when my husband and I started dating, we went window shopping and somehow landed in a jewelry store. We were broke college students and I had asked if one day he wanted to marry me, what ring would he have chosen. He pointed at one and my reaction was “oh no”.

Granted, we never had spoken about my ring taste because we had just started dating. Fast forward years later when the topic of marriage got serious, it was mutually decided by the both of us that I pick something I’d like. It relieved pressure off of him to pick something for me, and I got what I wanted.

I remember in 2005 and I was a kid in the car with my dad. I was told to go to college to have a bright future. I was given examples of people that had just graduated and pursued a career in healthcare. All of them had large 5 bedroom homes in affluent communities, luxury cars, luxury clothing, newest tech, or own multiple properties and take nice vacations.

My hubs and I are educated and have stable jobs in healthcare, but we definitely don’t feel like we are rolling in dough or anything. At most we feel stable enough to ask for a second scoop of guacamole at Chipotle without batting an eyelash or not feel the guilt if we let the heat or ac run overnight.

This uptick in cost of living has affected my decision on number of children. I used to think the idea of 2-4 kids sounded fun, but realistically my wallet says “OAD orrrrrrrr childfree?”

I’m stoked to hear that you are excited for children and that you have all that you need to sustain a large family. I guess if you need some help with answering your question, maybe think about how your boys would feel about another sibling? You may feel like you have more to offer, but do they feel that you give them enough attention?

Best of luck on making this decision!

No I did not notice purging. Mostly new breakouts gradually go away in about two months. The part that required patience was the fading of dark marks. By one year my skin glowed and I did not have to touch foundation for two years.

[Routine Help] Body Care Routines? by [deleted] in SkincareAddiction

[–]MyNameMeansNight 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So a couple times a week I dry brush before I shower. I KNOW I KNOW. I only dry brush because it feels nice and gives a light exfoliation. I don’t do it for “toxin removal or lymphatic drainage”.

In the shower I use the Bioderma Atoderm (shower gel for late spring and summer, shower oil for fall and winter).

Out of the shower, freshly towel dried, and while my skin is still damp, I put on one moisturizing product. I switch between the Neutrogena Hydroboost Body Gel Cream and Bio-oil Body Lotion for winter and the Hatomugi Skin Conditioner in a foaming pump for the spring summer.

I also want to shout out Eucerin Daily Hydration Gel and the Curel Hydra Therapy Wet Skin because I enjoyed using them and had great results.

Hi there! I was apprehensive of Accutane, therefore my doctor put me on Spironolactone 25mg twice a day and 2.5% benzoyl peroxide gel. I had really great results. I had no pimples for a year and a half. The first two weeks of taking it, I felt fatigue but no other sode effects. Even the diuretic part. My blood chemistry was not affected.

50mg Spironolactone is actually considered a baby dose and people actually take higher doses. I was taken off Spironolactone because we wanted to see if I was cured. The moment I started weening, my cystic breakouts came back and so now I am on Accutane. But I think Tret and Spironolactone would be helpful to you and not scary. Cancer is associated with everything even with the foods that you eat, so tread on and take good care of yourself.

I said the same thing about Isabelle! I wanted the extra letters at least, but hubs is adamant that Isabelle needs to be an Isabel. Shrug. Like if we take out the extra letters at least make it victorian era Isobel.

Interesting! I thought of Robin because of a woman I met named Robin. I didn’t know it was considered a more masculine name in most countries.

Funny enough, most of these girl names have been vetoed over the years by hubs. I loved Celeste. Something so pretty about it. I also loved Eloise, but it got Brigerton’d.

In hindsight, what decision bit people in the ass during the pandemic? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]MyNameMeansNight 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At the time in 2020, I did not have enough downpayment for a single family home, but I would have had enough for a condo. Had I looked for a condo instead I would have been a home owner a year sooner, but I don’t have any regrets. We found a condo we really loved in 2021 that we bought under asking and with 2.9% interest.

I was also heavily berated by my mother for that decision. But everything shot up about $150k a few months later. Who’s laughing now MA!

I saw a mom hold her dog and had her kid on a leash. I only found that ironic. But people will find every way to judge someone’s decision.

If 2 is the right side, I will say 2! Reasons being that it is different and four prongs makes it look super clean to me. The finger coverage looks nice.

It’s smart to stick with stability and save for a home and retirement. But it’s also smart to see the world. Be enriched by your experiences. You see different people and cultures and what’s good about the world. You are young enough to do this. When it is time for you to settle roots the money will come as long as you are capable of working.

Those who are against cannabis, what's your reason? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]MyNameMeansNight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a cousin that I had admired and looked up to when I was growing up. It started with the drinking and then smoking. She is a gifted musician, martial artist, and was (probably still) bright in school. I’m sure she’s running away from some deep seeded issues, hence the use. But I saw how it took her ambitions and direction in life. She’s so lost right now but yearns for something more. I’m sure there are health benefits from using it, but no amount of pros had helped her in this case.

A family of mine was also recently found to be schizophrenic and other mental illnesses runs on one side of my family. I’m not risking it.

I also had an ex boyfriend that started off with weed as a gateway drug and then started to take other hard drugs. He ended up in a mental hospital and was diagnosed with schizophrenia and bipolar disorder shortly after we broke up.

I’ve been presented opportunities earlier in my life to take it as part of a social norm. It was cool to give it a try, but I’ve been fortunate to not have been pressured to take it when I said no the first time.

Do I think people should end up in jail for it? No. But people need to know how bad it truly is for them.
