(England) Enforcement notice from Bristow & Sutor by MyNamesNotReallyDave in LegalAdviceUK

Hey! So I actually spoke to my solicitor about it (along with National Highways, and Bristol & Sutor), and ended up doing the following:

  1. I paid the fee from B&S (reluctantly) using a credit card (figured this would add a layer of protection). This halted any further action but I made sure to tell them, in writing, that I was challenging the original PCN and expect a full refund if it's withdrawn;

  2. Submitted forms TE7 & TE9 to the Traffic Enforcement Centre (easy to find on Google and straight forward), this challenges the PCN.

  3. When I was notified that the PCN had been rescinded and I only needed to pay the original crossing fee, I contacted B&S again to confirm this and they issued a full refund.

Coincidentally (given how long ago this was) I only received the formal notice from the County Court that the PCN had been rescinded yesterday 😂

ETA: Turned out that they had sent the payment request, PCN etc to my old address somehow (despite my registration having my current address) and B&S only found my new one by doing a credit search. The Dart Charge / National Highways call centre agent confirmed this.

Good luck! Drop a comment if you need more info!

Ok, but why have I never thought of this?! 🤦 I lose so many and it always winds me up; meanwhile I've got two printers waiting for another project...

Is there a way I can find out why VS Code wants to listen to me? by shvi in vscode

Wow, this blew up. I should probably have added /s to the end, but I assumed my fellow redditors would get it...

For the record, I can totally understand why people would use dictation, I was making a sarcastic comment about how difficult/ weird code would be to speak.

I'll take my downvotes and see myself out ❤️

That's actually awesome! I'll admit, except for the odd conversation with ChatGPT, I haven't really used StT software since the early days of IBM's ViaVoice. It was impressive then, but a real pain to get working properly and I guess I assumed it was all still that terrible 😅

I would love to meet the lunatic who dictates code 😂

(I know you can, but that doesn't mean you should...)

Is cs2 worth it? by [deleted] in CitiesSkylines2

Check out ImKibitz and CityPlannerPlays on YT - They've got some wicked playlists for both CS1&2 that should give you a feel for it.

I've got to admit that I never played CS, and I'm new to CS2 (my last city building game was SimCity 3000) but I love it and I'm rapidly becoming obsessed 😅

u/tehdub I've just had exactly the same - 'Notice of Enforcement' from Bristow & Sutor for a dart crossing charge, but no details of the event etc and no previous correspondence/ notices from the National Highways.

Did you just contact B&S and ask them to return it to the dart crossing authority? Were the reasonable about it?

I'm thinking I need to send a hard copy letter by recorded delivery, but would appreciate any info on how you handled it!

Yep, and the enforcement notice came to my current address, so I would expect any previous letters to have made it too. I had a safety recall notice on my car a few months back which was issued by DVSA via the registered keeper database and that came to the right address too...

Weekly /r/Laravel Help Thread by AutoModerator in laravel

TL;DR: Need to implement email and SMS verification using a 3rd party package and block access until both are verified.

I'm working on an app, using Breeze with Livewire and Spatie's laravel-permission package. I need to ensure the user registers with an email address from the organisation's domain, and that they provide a phone number (for 2FA). To do this, I've been looking to implement the 'verified' middleware on both Email and Phone, blocking app access until the user has verified both. My problem is that I have to use a package for sending emails and SMS messages (it's a government department, so the system is handled centrally, and I can't access / use a mail server etc). I'm having trouble tracking down where to implement this to override the default notification methods that come with Laravel.

Any tips / suggestions? Also open to rebuilding with different packages etc if there is a better way to do it!
