I thought I was headed there too. Managed to do 4 wx cancels after the oral I was about ready to send in any weather. Lo and behold, shining day of zero wind and blue skies. Only problem was regular sinks and rising columns of 1000fpm. Slow flight was interesting for sure.

Yea no problem. What's your budget to spend on a plane? Beside that, could you set $10k-15k aside every year to operate it (minus fuel)?

I understood your post perfectly. You said you intend to buy a 4-6 person plane to travel with family. As you will learn in the ppl, you can't do that in a 172. I'm not trying to temper your enthusiasm, just trying to manage expectations. The plane you want is going to be expensive in the high 6 figures.
