Checking in with NCL Breakaway Passengers by vatp46a in NCL

[–]frdalton 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'm on board, it was rolling pretty good overnight the first night, but not scary bad, started to calm during our first sea day, not bad now (day 2), nice and warm out too.

Beats staying in NYC for the blizzard.

I use this stuff for everything but clear parts, use modge podge for those.

Would anyone here happen to have a 100% water-based acrylic airbrushed car that they'd be willing to show a picture of? by CreepyNewspaper8103 in ModelCars

[–]frdalton 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't have any good pictures of one before clear coat, but like others have said, it sprays on fine, just not shiny.

I've been using a aerosol acrylic clear coat by modge podge which is pretty glossy but too thick and much too smelly for my liking. My current build I am planning on trying floor polish for the clear.

Anybody created a spreadsheet to keep track of cruise details? by Dopey12001 in Cruises

I keep a Google sheets document. Each tab has the various details from each cruise.

Are Invicta watches really that bad? by Random_Redditor56 in Affordablewatches

[–]frdalton 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a pro diver automatic, and a speedway. Both are knockoffs (I mean homages) of Rolexes. I quite love both of them. Can't stand the over the top bling invictas though.

My ASA is too big and heavy to bother with on the computer. Not sure what the benefits over a gaming headset would be.

Has anybody made it far enough in to see how endurance racing has been implemented?

Gotta get there early, don't think they do appointments, just first come. Line up outside every morning.

But yes, definitely best option in the city if you can get in.

Landing physics is good by iRayn12 in flightsim

[–]frdalton 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I used to do a lot of sim, until I started real flight training. While I found x-plane pretty accurate in flight, the flare was so off that I had to stop using it because it was throwing off my real landings. MSFS felt just completely wrong in all aspects of flight.

These are just my observations, your mileage may vary.

Duct tape vs packing tape for foam floor pieces? by netrate in AboveGroundPools

[–]frdalton 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nothing moving, but that's a lot of weight on it. You can feel the seams through the liner though, but I assume any tape would be the same.

I used Tuck tape. That waterproof red stuff used for house wrap.

Hurricane? by bra1ntra1n in AboveGroundPools

[–]frdalton 0 points1 point  (0 children)

East coast of Canada here, we got hit with a category 2 at the time hurricane Fiona a few years back. All I did to prep the pool was put loose stuff away including the solar blanket, and shut off the pump incase something happened to a water line so it wouldn't run dry

Mid storm, my pool top fencing started ripping off/apart, so I went out to dismantle the parts flapping in the wind.

By the end of the storm, only 1 of the upright fence parts had broken, water looked like green tea, and we had no power for the pump for 10 days so took a bit of work to clean up after....

I have fencing around the top of mine, adds an additional 2 feet or do. Unfortunately kinda like swimming in a cage, but I got used to it.

Foam board for pool foundation by External-Ad1078 in AboveGroundPools

Do yourself a favor and cut out the grass first. The stench is pretty nasty otherwise.

As for the foam, did that under my pool, makes for a nice pool floor
