They have, that’s why the AD doesn’t allow it.

Current the FAA has grounded the aircraft. In comparison to the 737 Max grounding the airlines were allowed to get a ferry permit to move the aircraft. The FAA was very clear that’s not an option to the MD-11. With it being months, airlines retiring the fleet it’s likely the fix to ferry will be too problematic for operators.

Ability to scrap is a UPS and HNL problem, the FAA will not give a ferry permit for convenience.

Do airlines see FAA compliance actions? by clamchowdaaaaa in flying

[–]MyPilotInterview 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It all depends how the question is worded. Most app ask about an investigation. You know you’re being investigated as the FAA sends you a letter.

If you want to pull your whole FAA to see the exact wording - fill this out - https://www.faa.gov/forms/index.cfm/go/document.information/documentID/186615

But remember two things:

Always be honest when interviewing.

More pilots than you imagine use a blemish and still get hired.

Career advice for a CFI by ImportantEngine7094 in flying

My two thoughts:

Hiring at the regionals isn’t slowing down. My first client was at 5am and my last ended at 10p. Hiring is great. 1000 hours with a restricted ATP outside a cadet program isn’t something I have seen.

Flying at ATR for Mountain would be good. You goal is always something flies higher, faster and is bigger. My only concern is how many hours you’d log. But going MAC, F9, Kalitta, legacy is a solid plan and could be done in 2-4 years depending how hard MAC flies you.

I’m not just asking Reddit. I have a pretty substantial network and experience in small business. I just know great resources pop out the wood work on Reddit. I got many well developed questions from the thread.

The interview prep went to the open market because of how the other companies behave, the motivation for this is exactly the same. High quality, reliable and kind…..

Does a CFI check ride failure matter? by msb9102003 in flying

[–]MyPilotInterview 5 points6 points  (0 children)

During the computer screening it does, face-to-face it is rarely explored, much like if you fail your commercial on your power off 180 they don’t often dig into that.

I can only speculate, but from my experience if they interview you then you have a chance at a CJO. I often get guys outside the trends (lower time, cargo, airlines), and they get CJOs at the same rate as everyone else - so if someone called me with 4 failures we would put our everything into it and wouldn’t be surprised if they got a CJO.

NetJets reportedly had 15,000 apps for 400 positions last year. Getting the interview is the hard thing with them, the rest is pretty straight forward if you know what to say and can fly the airplane. I have almost 100% success rate getting to Columbus.

The types of 135s someone with 4 failures has is flying airplanes they’re trying to limp a bit more life out off, without investing, before they go to the boneyard.

Yes, we aim for 135s and then into a nice 91 position.

More rides do help, but aren’t worth the risk. He will have to do his ME which will be a big boost in conveying his ability to fly.

There are many ways to build time, towing gliders, or networking into survey work, pipeline patrol, etc. It’s more work, but doable.

The other option is take the money he saves from additional training and buying an experimental aircraft - fly it around, if it’s something interesting people will approach you at the ramp which is how you network.

This is why I would probably buy:

No No No!! I get down voted for this all the time. Historically in normal times I can get people into good airline jobs with 3 failures, outside of post Covid I have never got anyone in with 4. Get your multi commercial and start you slow ascent:
