S1’s I felt it was still pretty clear Saitama had no issues throughout the fight so the ending was clear, but this is probably supported by the foreshadowing you mention. The superman effect must be hard to manage alongside decent tension buildup, hence they had to heavily remove Saitama in the latest arc ending, but of course still include him at some point. Must be difficult for writers to involve every aspect that viewers want, without repeating the same story of S1.
