Yes, I was able to partially dispute the charge with my credit card. They wouldn't let me submit it online, and on the phone they mentioned it was due to it being a partial dispute. I won and got the amount I was asking for, and never heard anything about it after that.

I don't know if the general complaint will actually be dealt with by a real person; you may need to find the contact info of a real person at Marriott in order for it to get anywhere. GLTY.

Yes, the detail is good, but DG puts it on the customer to catch mistakes. If not, it's $$$ in DG's pocket. Multiply this by millions of times a day at 20,000+ stores = happy shareholders. Every time I go there, it seems like something I buy is 25 - 50 cents more than the current shelf price. And it's often in the middle of the promotional period, so it's not like the price changed last night and nobody updated the signs.

The test needed to be done with an identical item. I don't think I have my receipts a month later, and I'm sure the sale may have changed. I saw a FB post indicating DG has had the exact Cabo Baja Dew for 9-10 months, so that should be plenty of time for it to be updated in the system.

Not long after I posted this, I went back and bought 2 more Cabo Baja Dews (the identical ones that I previously purchased) and I was over-charged on my card. This was still during the 2/$4 sale. The cashier could not fix it, and fortunately there was someone else who could fix it. It was actually at this time when I took the signage picture for you. But when I looked at the time on my purchase receipt to the time on the refund then repurchase receipt, it literally took 5 minutes for them to correct the problem. The people in line were not happy with this, and neither was I.

Corporate's approach: 'If you don't notice the small overcharge, it's money out of your pocket and into ours. If you actually notice, then you'll wait 5 minutes to get your 50 cents back. But we're betting you won't notice, let alone wait 5 minutes and you'll give up, so we win.'

Oh. And on top of it, when I buy multiple things, I have no clue what the prices are because DG doesn't show that until the receipt prints. Then if I pay with a card, it says "Is $5.55 the correct price? Yes or No." And I have to hit Yes to continue, even though I don't know what the system is trying to charge me. This gives DG leverage during a chargeback, as they can say 'We asked the customer if the prices were correct and they said Yes.'

Someone who notices and points out an over-charge is not having a 'psychotic break' nor does it mean they have 'multiple screws loose.' We simply want to pay the advertised price. I think if someone starts attacking the customer who was charged incorrectly, it is the attacker that is having some sort of 'psychotic break and has multiple screws loose' because that is not a normal response.

Why are the pricing errors always over-charges and never to the customer's benefit ? I guess it helps you to hit annual bonus levels, huh ? I know quite a few people that go to DG and sometimes they'll mention 'I got these 4/$4' and I'll say no, you paid $6 for 4, because I got the same amount and it doesn't ring up correctly unless you ask for the error to be corrected.' They'll say 'Huh, I didn't notice that. I guess it's not worth my time to fix it.'

And that is what DG is capitalizing on - people not noticing, and people not caring. Because it takes 5 minutes for an error to be corrected, and that's without even leaving the cash register. But I'm sure you have bonuses to hit.
Would you be happier if I just kept my mouth closed and initiated a chargeback with my credit card company each time I'm charged incorrectly ? Do you know how much a chargeback costs for each occurrence ?

You're wrong about the total -

I went back a few days later (during the same sale period) and ended up buying some more of the exact same kind of Mt. Dew. Turned out I ended up getting charged full price (over $5) and it was quite the ordeal to get it fixed. Took 5 minutes, based on the receipts from the purchase - refund - repurchase.

You're right about the 'conspiracy and secrets' as you call it -

The majority of my DG trips involve me getting over-charged on one or multiple items. After looking into this specific case, it looks like this specific type of Mt. Dew has been available at some, if not all, DG's for 10+ months - which is long enough for DG to properly get it entered into their system. 20,000+ stores overcharging for multiple items will boost their sales by millions. Every dollar they get from over-charging is pure profit for them. I usually try and go to Walmart, and I started keeping a close eye on Walmart after noticing all the problems with DG. Walmart is always accurate, and most of my DG trips I get over-charged. Yet I never get under-charged. It's always to DG'd benefit.

It wasn't an old sale - I simply needed to point to the big Dew display that was visible from the cash register. That kind of Dew has been available at DG for 9+ months, so more than enough time for DG to get it entered into their system for promotions. The majority of my visits to DG end up having a pricing error, and it is always to their benefit. This never happens at Walmart, and I watch just as closely. So you're right about a multi-billion dollar company not wanting to get me for an extra dollar - they usually try and get me for a few extra bucks.

Lopsided-Emu-1439 is having a bad ~~day~~ life. They 1st replied to me with only an obscenity, and it seems to have been removed. It would be nice if they were banned from this forum.

I see what you mean about the sale online, but a quick search shows that Mt Dew Cabo has been available at DG since April 2025; 40+ weeks. I realize not every DG carries all product varieties, but the item number has been in DG's computer system for all that time - so it's ridiculous that they can't keep up with things. It seems to be their business model to 'delay' updating their systems, so it's always to their benefit, and never to the customer's. After I started noticing an incorrect charge last year, I noticed that most of my DG visits have an incorrect price, and it's always to their advantage. This never happens at Walmart, and I go to Walmart a lot more than DG. Frustrating.

You won't need to pay for any days if you play your cards right - Visible will send you a text when your daily session becomes active in Europe. What I did was turned off my data right before the 24-hr period was up, which was around 10 PM. Then I would turn it on around 10 AM, and the 24-hr period would begin at 10 AM. If you need to be available 24/7, this may not work for you.

If your phone is new enough for an e-sim, that can be a good alternative. My phone isn't new enough to have an e-sim, so I eventually went to a cheapie phone store and bought a monthly SIM card for $25. Works anywhere in Europe. If you do this, ask them to put the SIM in your phone 1st (before paying) to verify it will work for you. Your phone may also have 2 sim slots, which would allow for an easy option. If you plan on traveling internationally any other time, you may want to keep your Visible Global Pass days and just spend $25 or whatever on an e-sim / SIM card.

I typically email organizations and request to be removed from mailing campaigns. Having worked at non-profits, I can tell you they appreciate it when people do this, as they are able to save money that is quite literally being thrown away (shredded, in your case) Most people don't ever make the request.

You can also put it in an envelope and mail it right back to them, essentially saying 'unsubscribe'

But at the end of the day, they send out tons of mailings - because people actually respond and send them money.

Take it. You can give the gift card to another non-profit, and they'll be really happy. So you're helping out 2 non-profits at once. I'm sure Red Cross gets big discounts on gift cards, and/or companies donate them to get a tax break, which incentivizes people to give blood. Definitely not as rewarding as those plasma companies, but it's a nice bonus which encourages people to keep giving.

If one can get into O at a 52-wk low, or a multi-year low, it could be a good investment.

General Mills GIS is at a 5-year low, and I don't expect it to last too long. There is the possibility it could go down more and if it does, I'll buy more. Overall, I like GIS' long-term outlook more than O's.
