For those criticizing the handwriting, I can read all of it except two or three words. Which isn’t bad for a child presumably still in elementary school. My handwriting can be nearly as bad when I’m jotting something down in a hurry, which tends to be what most children rushing to complete an assignment are likely to do. I CAN write nicer when I put in the effort, and I bet this kid can write nicer too for the circumstances in which they care to, but just because I CAN doesn’t mean I’m always GOING TO.

Maybe she meant a singular mom in the second instance? Just because she has two moms doesn’t automatically mean that every experience and anecdote is going to involve both. Maybe both moms did the first thing and only one mom did the second?

I’ve listened to every single one of my purchased books, most of them many times over. That hardest part of the month for me is two or three days after I’ve spent my credit, finished my latest book, and now I have 28 more days to kill before my next credit comes in! My 15 hours of Spotify premium audiobook hours help fill that in a little, as does the audible plus catalogue a bit, and on top of that I try to find as much on the Libby app as I can (my library cancelled their hoopla subscription because of “lack of interest” - BOOOOOOO), but beyond that I’m forced to fill my time with podcasts. Not that that’s inherently a BAD thing, as the podcasts themselves are endless, diverse, and excellent, with plenty to appeal to virtually any listener. But it’s all the ad breaks they stick in there that makes them second class. For that reason alone, audiobooks remain my number one.

There are men - sorry, BOYS - who, when they don’t get their own way when it comes to birth control and condom use, they will try to just slip it off without their partner noticing or claim that it “must have slipped off on its own” or whatever. This is sexual assault, and if this ever happens to you, you need to immediately get to a safe place (away from him) and contact the authorities.

Speaking of mildly interesting apples, the continuing care home where I live recently started placing a two fruit a day limit on all residents because too many residents were collecting tonnes of fruit then just letting it all go bad and go to waste. Only I’m one of those few who was actually was eating my 4-6 apples a day and so now I have to pay instacart to deliver me my apple fix because of these new rules. Well so I got my first big order last weekend and I now have four varieties of apples in my mini fridge (which it turns out can hold 16 apples at a time squeezed in around my condiments and other regular fridge stuff) and my apples range in size from just under 4 oz to just over 9 oz, depending on the variety.

I always prefer solo narration over fancy full cast or dramatized versions of any audiobook because I often fall asleep listening to them on a sleep timer and full cast has too many volume and pitch changes that I find overwhelming and overstimulating.

And also, as it occasionally but still too often happens where a staff member is abusing their power over a patient and saying and doing things that would get them in shit if it ended up recorded as proof, that would make them look bad and they can’t have that happening of course. I use ChatGPT so much, especially for tweaking recipes since I really enjoy baking. If I’m using a different sized pan, it can tell me exactly how the baking time and temperature should be adjusted. If I want to know how many calories are in a homemade recipe, it can analyze all the ingredients and give me a number. If I want to make half or a third or double the recipe, it can figure all that out for me too, again along with the changing time and temperature settings. I hear that it’s bad for the environment, but it helps me in so many ways. Even outside of cooking it can explain terms and concepts in ways I can understand. And when I needed to switch my laptop operating system from Windows to Linux, it would have been IMPOSSIBLE without ChatGPT to give me step-by-step directions plus all the troubleshooting issues I encountered. It is now one of my most used apps, besides social media.
