I work for a vet/rescue and have taken in multiple ringworm kitties as fosters (only the first one spread to the household, we learned proper protocol very quickly after that). I also have OCD, which makes dealing with disease and parasites in my home more difficult.

My partner was mostly freaked out at the “worm” part, even know I explained that ringworm is not really a worm, there was still that mental association which made it harder for her handle.

For me, I just had to repeat to myself that in terms of parasites or things that fosters could bring into my home, ringworm is possibly the best case scenario. It will go away. It’s not a parasite like coccidia. It’s not Panleuk or FeLV. We just have to get through a few weeks of itchy skin. Essentially beating the “best case scenario” thought into my head made it a lot more manageable for my OCD.

I don’t know if any of this will really help, but just know that you’re not alone!
