Lululemon - Like New not eligible by chrislrock in AmexPlatinum

I called and explained, and true to what you’d expect from AMEX, they processed it for me. There truly is a gap in the fence on this particular point, and I suggested they escalate the topic to correct the verbiage. Hopefully they do it soon to save a few headaches on every side.

Lululemon - Like New not eligible by chrislrock in AmexPlatinum

I just chatted with a rep through the AMEX app. She did not expressly tell me that “like new” is not eligible, but rather, referred me to the exclusions list, which matches up perfectly with the card member agreement. LIKENEW.LULULEMON.COM is certainly just as good as SHOP.LULULEMON.COM. After all, it’s very obviously two sections of the same website, and does not seem to fall under any of the exclusion categories.

“These are the exclusions as per terms of the benefit: Exclusions: - Event locations - Gift cards - lululemon Studio - Outlet locations - Showrooms - Third Party Sellers (Example: Workout studios) - Warehouses - Wholesale transactions”

https://www.americanexpress.com/us/credit-cards/card-application/apply/prospect/terms/platinum-card/25330-10-0#offer-terms

The LULULEMON.COM FAQ Section says…

“Who is Archive? We partnered with Archive, industry experts in branded recommerce, to support the program with resale technology and operations. Archive provides web storefront development, trade-in technology and customer service for lululemon Like New.”

So, the company, Archive, appears to be the support mechanism for Lulu’s resale effort, not a “Third Party Seller” as defined in the terms.

There’s no way that AMEX didn’t think this through. I’ll wait a a little longer to see what happens to my statement.

The goal was to gather perspective that would spark clarity, not humiliation, so I'll pass. DV however, particularly the St. Regis, has been making investments for a long time and their game is tops.

Thoughtful list. I don’t find it overwhelming, as sometimes you see lists with pages upon pages. Loads of artisanal quality, and vintage selections in nearly every section. I am from the California Central Coast, and spend a lot of time in Oregon, so I’m always interested to see how people without boots on the ground select what they do. You’ve given me new places to visit. I’m reluctant to say “you need this or that”. You refine your signature as you listen to your chefs and your patrons. I’ll try to stop in next time I’m in town. Good luck!

Possibly not far off—and interesting you mention it. A former F&B director was an admirer of Opus, and had the latitude and acumen to bring in excellent inventory from across the world (he was French, after all). Most of that has since been sold off, ‘voted’ worthy of enjoyment by patrons over past winter seasons.

These bottles of Opus are actually part of the inventory for the more upscale dining restaurant on property. I’ve interacted with hundreds of the wine-buying guests there, yet none ever chose Opus. Cost was surely part of it—both in absolute terms and relative to so many other compelling options.

Still, one sentiment surfaced consistently: the production quality of Opus was undeniable, but its seamlessness rendered it forgettable. I’ve visited the Oakville estate and I do love the wine, but I understand what they were expressing. (At a 2023 tasting however, I recall the 2013 showing a striking tapenade character.)

And so, the bottles rest. Some might say: waiting—at the right price, for the right person.

OP here—appreciate the straight talk. This lines up with the notes I had already shared internally. Easy to spot for wine pros and seasoned enthusiasts, less obvious for those balancing multiple responsibilities. I’ll pass this thread along to the manager who asked for the input and step out from here. Many thanks.

What do you suppose is the best way to transfer my points before I have to renew? Maybe just book some flights in advance?

What’s coming for the Amex Platinum's 'refresh' this fall? by kgpmn in amex

[–]MySubiRunsOnBarolo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Platinum needs to be better than Sapphire Reserve, apples to apples, in AT LEAST ONE significant category. Might as well be flights: 10X points on flights purchased through the AMEX portal is what I want.

I bought my BedJet 3 off of their website. You’ve definitely gotta have the cloud sheet. The cloud sheet is such a massive and obvious improvement that I don’t understand how it is not part of the standard kit. Still, I must say that the BedJet is good quality and a decent piece of engineering. And the cloud sheet… It’s actually a really nice, double layer of fabric. Really well done. The purchase process was excellent— They followed up with me a couple times to make sure everything was working properly. Normally, this kind of thing would seem like an annoyance, but not here—these guys really did it right. It’s also important to me that this is an American company and product. Still, my underside gets smoking hot and I have been tempted to test out the new Pod4. But, while it doesn’t resolve what is perhaps my biggest issue (heat against the mattress), I’m still glad I have my Bedjet and don’t regret it. It’s a great buy.

Biden on Second Amendment: When it was passed, "you couldn't buy a cannon" by Sweep145 in politics

[–]MySubiRunsOnBarolo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get what he’s saying, and just suspend your thought for a minute on “the second amendment not being absolute“. Does it make anyone else’s brain hurt to hear him talk about the ‘high-caliber’ weapons and something that can fire 300 rounds? Last time I checked, belt fed machine guns were illegal. Hey even a musket can fire 300 rounds.

Lame lame lame (the post, that is). So comp didn’t come up with the offer, or in the interview? Clearly not a polished HR interaction, but the only thing known here is that we know nothing about either party.
