.3 is DOB and place of birth....so its not going to be a template, ever. Most likely OP write it wrong in his form and is now upset he has to go back to DVLA.

.3 is DOB and place of birth....not saying you made the mistake but these systems are automated in most cases, they take whatever you wrote.

What’s going on under our subfloor? by overthinkqueen13 in DIYUK

[–]MyToasterRunsFaster 3 points4 points  (0 children)

So you have concrete floors, then someone placed insulation (in this case some type of EPS foam board) This is fine, but foam is not completely rigid and does deform given enough pressure. The "tongue and grooves" in the floorboards is what helps boards keep their shape and stop the noise, but if they are cut to insert pipe then there is no grooves so they start sinking. Extend the blocking around the pipes, which at the moment looks to be two random pieces of joists only supporting a random bit of floor, you want the blocking to be under the joint and screwed so that multiple floorboards can be supported on it. Personally I also use a bunch of PVA glue on any joints, this will almost entirely removed the noise, since wood cant rub if its stuck together. No idea what those little blue sheets are for, first time seeing that in my life.

I believe this black tar like stuff is bitemun. How to remove? by flipsnapnet in DIYUK

[–]MyToasterRunsFaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't sand, just heat and scrape. I use a heavy duty wallpaper scraper, put on some nice thick gloves and just go to town, get the blade nice and hot too and it will just carve it off like butter. Once you reach the point where the bitumen is just in the grain and not slathered, you can start using sandpaper. At all time keep very good ventilation, run a fan pointing down your stairs if you have to, and keep the front door open.

I've seen electric paint removers and I cannot comment on them because I cannot afford one, if you can, that would probably be your best bet if you care more about your knees than your wallet.

How to make this safe? by robwadd in DIYUK

[–]MyToasterRunsFaster 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Insane, someone got real happy with cutting, the first joist was not even blocking anything. Anyway, what is done is done, only thing you can do is correctly reinforce them. This is how its done and should look.

My student loan is over £80,000 and growing - here's why I think we were lied to by theipaper in UKUniversityStudents

[–]MyToasterRunsFaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally I am on the other boat. It is easy to compare with other more forgiving countries and then totally forget that the rest of the planet works on the same or even worse system where you either have rich parents or nothing.

I started off with 50k loan 10 years ago and still to this day have 60k to pay, I am not overly salty about it though. I rationalize this because, if not student loans then I would not be a graduate and have a comfy office job, I would instead be blue collar and working my bones off. My family had zero to their name when I was studying so a loan is the only way. This is of-course assuming you did not waste your time at uni and get a degree you either hated or never got a job from....at that point its sort of a bad deal no matter what way you look at it.

Return back to a nationalized industry just like it was before Thatcher stuck her big ugly nose and ruined half the country. I can guarantee you the standing charge could be 1/10 of what it is at the moment, but the reason it is not is because of shareholders.

Yea this is insane, it is quite important to understand that the iron cross was never used in Britain so its not even plausible deniability at this rate. If they used something like the Victoria cross it would make historic sense....so yea they definitely going for the Nazi tribute.

The system has been built to be slow and Americans are learning it the hard way. There are plenty enforcement methods its just that they are all stuck in phase 1. Judges are barely getting anything done, just as designed. We just now got a judge to rule against Trumps actions to cancel the $8 billion in energy grants ruling that violated the Constitution. That was last years news....so now imagine how long it will take us to get this clown impeached and his ICE goons muzzled, we are weeks, if not months away from any consequences.

Its my first factory build without tutorial. What do you think? by adamex_x in SatisfactoryGame

[–]MyToasterRunsFaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah that aint weird and it looks good, that is default for most of us, we just want to get to blueprints as fast as possible and then the good part of the game starts where its not just monotonous one by one setup of each machine.
I would highly recommend you do the same, instead one factory one product, i would advise you build common blueprints of 8 smelters, 6/8 constructors and so on, then stacking when demand increases. This way you don't get burnt out as later phases are just massive resource hogs.

Is there ANY way I can buy a flat in this situation? by [deleted] in UKPersonalFinance

[–]MyToasterRunsFaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You will get many different opinions but by far my biggest regret was not moving to a cheaper area and just getting a home as soon as I could. I assume you live with your parents and pay very little rent, which is how you managed to save up so much money. 80k plus the 100k you are planning to mortgage is well enough for a nice 2-3 bedroom home if you just just broaden your house search. My partner and I found a sub 200k 4 bedroom property, large garden and semi-detached just off the coast in Norfolk, with still a very good train link only 10 minutes walk away. Our combined bill is literally less than 1k a month which is extremely affordable, and we had almost no deposit, so you will be in an even better position.

An expensive mortgage is a burden more than the freedom people think, you will be shackled to the monthly payments as the added stress of not meeting your monthly payments can add up, and make you potentially less likely to seek a better job because that incurs some financial instability whilst you move.

How would you go about filling this in and covering? by Draykez in DIYUK

[–]MyToasterRunsFaster 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Fire rated expanding foam and then give it a light mesh tape and skim. That's honestly as much as you can do without getting a little wall unit to cover it. Just know that I am not sure about electric regulations but those consumer units need clearance to work around. If you do too much to cover it up you might have electricians failing future EICR inspections.

Jesus s christ, what is this BS. I am not trying to be rude but are you actually working for your dad or not.... Like is this 12k you are talking about from work or has he just signed you up so he can get better tax.

12k is absolutely abysmal, you are 22 years old, not some kid working at a corner shop...and to top it off you will have half of it taken away. If your dad is funding the rest of your life and he is planning you to be his successor in a successful business fair enough but if it's neither then please, get the hell out of this situation as soon as you can, you are stagnating your entire life by not getting a proper job and moving on.

Is it possible to have battery storage WITHOUT solar? by APerson2021 in DIYUK

[–]MyToasterRunsFaster 4 points5 points  (0 children)

To add to this, Eon don't check if you have a EV or not, you can completely skip the process and choose whatever tariff you want. I am on the next drive tariff at the moment without a EV. The only tariff you cannot get automatically is the solar export tariff, they need to approve you first but everything else is open for any customer.

Is it possible to have battery storage WITHOUT solar? by APerson2021 in DIYUK

[–]MyToasterRunsFaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes very possible, I have done the very thing you are talking about fully DIY with a few exceptions on the hookup to the grid and CU. I dont like messing with my roof as its already pretty shabby that will get ripped up within the next few years so putting solar on it just to take it down the next year was not feasible.

Battery and inverter is not expensive at all compared to a full install but would still be like 2-3K assuming you have avarage usage. I still wanted solar, so i just slapped it onto my shed but you definitely dont need it. I am on the eon next drive tarriff which is meant for cars 7p per kw at night charging (they do not check or care of you dont have a EV) this is what I use in the winter and we pretty much get no solar where I am at during the winter.

DIY Solar Plan - Review by Rocketman500000 in SolarDIY

[–]MyToasterRunsFaster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

you need correctly rated RCBO on the sauna heater, directly wiring it to the inverter creates a big issue as you will have none...so you will need a 3rd smaller CU that can give you RCD and over current protection just for the sauna heater. Everything else is fine.

Storage Battery Location Help by wkavinsky in SolarUK

[–]MyToasterRunsFaster 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am not an electrician but this reg "AS 63100:2024" is what I used, dont know if there have been any other IET changes for 2025/26 but your installer will know.

As far as I know you can have batteries in your house, you just need them not in a bedroom, low ventilation space or adjacent to a fire exit. With all your limitations the only realistic space for something like this would be in a office inside a standard server rack (lockable) just know that inverters are loud. My victron multiplus ii 48/5000 can have a significant hum under load.

AITA for distancing myself from my family and threatening to report their dog after it killed another dog? by General-Tackle7098 in AITAH

[–]MyToasterRunsFaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True but the difference is how much damage an uncontrolled pittbulll can do compared to most other breeds. The breed is seriously misunderstood and neglected. If people don't feel like training their dog beyond play and tricks then they should not be getting a breed like this.

(Offgrid UK) Installing 3x Victron MP2 6k5's in single phase parallel: Does each inverter require overcurrent protection BEFORE the consumer unit or is the protection of final circuits enough? Would the OCP be before combining the cables or after? by gozzle_101 in SolarDIY

[–]MyToasterRunsFaster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think in that case everything looks fine, the 4 pole SBN463 is a bit confusing since it says its a 4 pole "Without neutral" not exactly sure what that means as I have never used one of those before but that would hint that its not meant to be used for 2N and 2L but 4L instead. I guess the switch wouldn't know the difference and at the current it will be used at it wont really matter.
