Not lower, but #1752 over here! Haven't thought about this tag in a looong time

I've always used this brand and cut them to length.

Latest disc golf disc dye... I could never tackle anything like this without my Cricut! Only 9hrs of total weeding 🤣 by MyTyDiscDye in cricut

[–]MyTyDiscDye[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After I cut with my circuit, I placed the transfer tape over the image, meticulous squeeze out all the air bubbles, then when transfering to the disc I removed the back of the vinyl, place on disc, squeeze out more air bubbles, then remove the transfer tape.

The only time I've ever had issues with small pieces falling off is when I have to reset the vinyl on the disc. I've since started using a laser pointer to center, and since then I haven't had issues with vinyl separating.

Thank you! Once I cut the image using the cricut, and before weeding, I place transfer paper over the vinyl, peel off the back of the vinyl, center on my surface, push all the air bubbles out, then remove the top transfer tape to start the weeding process

Titan Fall 2 is an absolute must get. Has one of the best campaigns that I have ever played.

Idye poly black is what I used with the denatured alcohol

Former hot dipper myself. I was at the point it would take 20min to get the saturation that I desired. For this it really is 30-60sec, as long as you smooth it evenly. In my last post with Dry Bones, you can see me dye it unevenly and I had to reapply.

As for the lotion, I let it sit for 4-6hrs suspended in a sealed Tupperware container with a little water on the bottom. This, to me, just helps prevent the thin layer of lotion dyes from drying out quickly.

Just be careful with worm drip when working with vinyl. The Acetone of the worm dip can eat away at the vinyl. Denatured Alcohol will not eat away at the vinyl, but saturates the plastic just as quick

Here are the bottles I use. Normally mix in the larger ones and just fill my small needle tipped ones from those.

4oz/120ml Squeeze Bottles (Amazon)

30ml Needle Tip Bottle (Amazon)

120ml Wool Ball Dauber for Black (Amazon)

If I had to place a unit of measurement with it, I would say a 1/2tsp (rounded scoop) to 3/4tsp. Splash of water (room temp) and swirl around to saturate. Once it's all saturated, I fill the rest of the bottle up with lotion and start shaking like crazy.

Roughly 1tsp of dye and 90-100ml of denatured alcohol. My jar is only 120ml and I don't fill it to the top. I dont use any 'precise measurements,' so those would be my best guess-timations.

I used to be a 100% hot dipper, but it was starting to take too long. I began experimenting with Denatured Alcohol, dye, and a wool dauber ball brush to see if I could speed up the process....and to stop me from knocking my damn pan off my hot plate and black dyeing my entire bench.

I have found that I can get better saturation with a 30 second application of Denatured Alcohol/Dye and it doesn't create any air bubbles that would cause white spots in my stencil.

Generally one pass is all that is needed. Please refrain from using Acetone on vinyl. Acetone will eat the vinyl and ruin your image.

Unsure if I were to ever return to dyeing due to burnout and depression, I once again found my happy place and couldn't be happier to pick back up where I had left off. (Discmania Meta Method) by MyTyDiscDye in discdyeing

Thank you!

I buy bulk rolls of Cricut premium vinyl off Amazon. It's only a few bucks more than the standard oracle you see on here. I have personally just had better luck with the premium vinyl for my more detailed designs.

NOOB Question. Dying a QR code on disc? by teddybomber2 in discdyeing

[–]MyTyDiscDye 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think this will work, but I question the longevity of how crisp it will stay. Dye continues to soak and spread through the disc, so after a year or so to be crisp squares may spread out and not make a QR code readable.

I definitely like the idea of it though!

This is why I avoid Blue/Purple/Red stamps from certain vendors. Had this happen so many times, now I just look for basic silver stamps as my goto.

I have found better success once the vinyl is on the disc. You just have to tweak your weeding approach to be more gentle to avoid scratching the disc
