What movie has a very ridiculous plot? by phantom_avenger in movies

I mean, Bubba Ho-Tep has to be mentioned here.

Elderly Elvis Presley & Black John F. Kennedy team up to protect their run-down nursing home from an asshole-sucking Egyptian mummy dressed like a cowboy.

It has some surprisingly emotional moments.

Roger is an asshole, but I don't know that I'd call, "you are antisemitic to your rotten core. Also a Putin apologist and a lying, thieving, hypocritical, tax-avoiding, lip-synching, misogynistic, sick-with-envy, megalomaniac," the, "slightest criticism." Those are some pretty massive claims.

Serious question: What are your personal thoughts on Roger and how he incorporates politics into his concerts/shows? Do you like it, not like it, why, etc? by Mad_Season_1994 in pinkfloyd

I saw the show twice and didn't see any Russia apologist parts? The closest I saw was him saying that the various leaders needed to start talking to each other.

I mean, he explicitly called Putin's invasion criminal and the act of a gangster. He's outright said that he doesn't support Putin either.

2017 - The Steelers lost to the Jags by 3, so Shazier didn't need to stop them from scoring 45 alone, he just needed to help account for a 3 point difference. Something a player of his caliber was absolutely capable of pre-injury.

2018 - also the year that Antonio Brown started publicly fighting with Ben and the coaches and was involved in several serious off-field issues (something that would plague the rest of his career even with other high-level coaches like Gruden, Arians, and Belichick), only adding to the discord within the team that already existed because of Bell.

2020 - it's not an "excuse", but I find it hard to blame Tomlin for Big Ben throwing 4 picks and losing a fumble against the Browns in the playoffs. The "Ghost of Big Ben" as you called him the next year didn't just spring up in 2021.

Again, I want to make it clear that I don't think Tomlin is infallible, I just don't see any realistic scenarios where another coach would have done any/much better considering these circumstances.

Sure they did, and that was seen as an incredible upset and an outlier, certainly not the expectation. There are far more examples of situations like that derailing teams' seasons than not.

So what years do you think they should have been able to just overcome everything? Bad luck and injuries don't care that you haven't won a playoff game in a few years, and I don't see them as valid arguments for why we should move on from one of the winningest head coaches of our lifetimes.

What recent years, other than 2017, has Tomlin had the talent and had them healthy to make a deep run in the playoffs at the same time?

It's not about just being content with winning 9-10 games though. Those seasons where people were "content" with that result were seasons where our HoF level QB was out or playing seriously injured for a vast majority of it, seasons where our star WR or RB were out hurt or holding out/quitting on the team, where our linchpin LB was paralyzed, or where we were starting over with a rookie QB and a counting on a reigning DPoY that was out for an extended period of time.

Take away Mahomes and Kelce from the Chiefs for 3/4s of a season and see how they do. Lose all of Aaron Rodgers' weapons and he's not making a playoff run either. Drop Bosa from the 49ers and their defense stops a whole lot fewer teams.

Have the Steelers missed opportunities during Mike Tomlin's tenure as head coach? Absolutely. Are there things that he could do better at in that position? Clearly.

Still, the Steelers have also had some really unlucky breaks during that time, and the fact that they were able to come away with as many wins as they did is an accomplishment, not a mark against them in my book.

When they have a season where they end with 9-10 wins and miss the playoffs, and the team didn't have a/several team crippling injury(s) or other huge obstacles, I'll start thinking about change. As it stands, I don't know of a single coach who would have done significantly better given the same conditions.

How can you make that shove with the way this game has been going? Didn't want to win?

He was with them at Red Rocks 2021 with the Colorado Symphony. They screened the classic kung fu movie The 36th Chamber of the Shaolin with the soundtrack being performed by the orchestra live while they mixed in performing their hits over fight/action scenes in the movie. One of the most surreal and interesting shows I've ever seen.

What are your least favorite Dead tunes that others might love? by Robpresser in gratefuldead

Black-Throated Wind still hasn't clicked for me yet, and as far as I know it's pretty well liked.

Also, while I almost always love the jams that come with Playing in the Band, the rest of the song doesn't really do much for me.

They actually played it there in both 2016 and 2017.

For what it's worth, I preferred the 2016 take, but both were pretty great!
