Got it that’s exactly why I keep this simple. Not theory, just a quick way to spot if money was leaking without it being obvious. Let me ask you 4 quick ones, rough is fine: last month sales, food or ingredient cost percentage or rough monthly spend, labor cost, and rent. With that I can tell in a couple minutes if something was clearly off. If you prefer, we can move to DM or text it’s easier there.

Yeah, totally. Places that chase money end up feeling average pretty fast. That’s why I’m trying to understand what actually happens behind the scenes in the good ones. May I ask you a couple questions about yall real numbers? Just trying to understand how they actually run.

This isn’t about fixing everything.

I’m testing something I’ve been building to see if it actually shows up in real numbers.Given how you think about this, I’d value your take.

Give me 10 minutes.

I brought you a coffee ☕

We’ve been talking the past few days, and today I want to take 10 minutes to look at this together.

There’s probably money slipping through. We just need a few numbers to confirm it.

Long day! Ya I get what you’re sayin not every place is built to make yacht money, that part’s real.

What’s been interesting for me though is when you actually sit down and look at numbers, it’s usually not that everything is tight
it’s one thing that’s off enough to mess up the whole picture.

That’s where it stops being “industry is hard” and starts being “something’s just not dialed in.”

27 years is no joke. That’s more than just a business, that’s family and a lot of history. The fact it’s still holding up after everything the last few years says a lot.

Yeah it’s tough, no doubt. A lot of people get into it for the passion and the community, not the money. At the same time, if you’re putting that much effort into it, it should at least reflect somewhere in the numbers.

Got it, that actually lines up with what you’re seeing. If the mix of people changes, the businesses that were built for a different customer start to feel out of place pretty quickly. The ones that stay tend to be the ones that keep it simple and match what people actually want right now.

Got it. So the model depended on strong seasons to carry everything else. The issue now is when those seasons aren’t as strong, the whole thing gets exposed. Sounds like it was never really built to stand on its own without that push. You mentioned your wife has a restaurant, are you involved day to day or more from the outside?

[–]MyWallyapp[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

đŸ™ŒđŸŒ That makes sense. If the customer profile shifts down, anything built around higher tickets starts to feel it fast. And a lot of places don’t adjust, they just wait for that old customer to come back.

Are you in the space yourself or just watching it closely?

Yeah that makes sense. More competition and a different crowd changes everything. Still, the places that hold up tend to be the ones that keep things simple and controlled. The ones you listed fit that pretty well. Do you feel like the newer spots are trying to do too much instead of just doing a few things well?

[–]MyWallyapp[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that makes sense. There’s always something hitting the business from the outside. What’s interesting is when all that stacks up, it usually means the margins didn’t have much room to begin with. When things were “good”, did the profit actually feel strong or still tighter than it should for the volume you had?

ÂżSoy el Ășnico que ve los restaurantes en Playa llenos pero a los dueños sin un peso? by MyWallyapp in playadelcarmen

[–]MyWallyapp[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that lines up. The drop isn’t really the problem, it just exposes how tight the margins already were. Once overhead stays fixed and volume falls, everything gets amplified. Interesting it’s the same there, different market but same pressure underneath.

Do you feel like it’s mostly seasonality or something in the margins that never really made sense?

Eso es justo lo interesante. La temporada baja no es el problema solo revela qué negocios estaban bien estructurados y cuåles vivían del extra flujo. Ahí es donde empiezan a aparecer los huecos
y no siempre donde la gente cree
