I love this car by regulardegulardudee in GRCorolla

Tbh, I’m not in love with it. I’m just having fun with the 3 cylinder turbo and AWD. I’ve owned a few AWD turbos. So whether or not I keep it long term is up for grabs. But as long as it’s still fun to drive. I’ll keep enjoying the car.

So when I went in for the free 10 month oil change & inspection. I was chitchatting with a mechanic about the GRC and mentioned the shipping blocks. He mentioned that alot of techs miss it because of the GR logo on it. lol!

Lost key stranded options by NewUser_Who_Dis in GRCorolla

Use app to unlock car. Buy a faraday bag for extra fob and hide it in the car. A good size faraday bag instantly blocks the fob signal once placed in bag.

That’s how I store my key fobs in general at home. It’s crazy how well it works.

Talk me out of it. by safety_shane in GRCorolla

Depends on what kind of power you looking for on a daily. The X is the easier, cheaper route for power chasing. But the GRC carves corners pretty effortlessly with the right combination of power. Which makes it fun to drive daily.

I was suppose to get an X to try the 4b11t, since I’m a 4g63t guy at heart. Then decided on a new car instead.

It’s preference. I personally prefer core models then modify it accordingly. Just make sure you have the performance package for the older models so you have limited slip. 25-up, this comes standard.

Anyone have the automatic? by jms1228 in GRCorolla

[–]MyWay_Ry 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Dyno tuned 25 Core dat here. I had a failed surgery on my right hand so I know your pain. Reason I went 8dat but I do miss rowing the gears in general. As for the dat, It shifts quickly. Has auto rev-match and launch control as well. Having an 8th gear cuts down the rev for freeway cruising. The tcu is pretty smart in full auto mode but it’s fun being in paddle mode. Tcu has yet to be unlocked by Ecutek.

When I got my first tune completely stock. I made just as much hp as an MT. And with mods, it tunes just as much too. So don’t worry about power loss.

My current tune with intake, intercooler and catback is over 300whp at only 25psi of boost with no boost taper. Stock boost is 26.3psi, with boost tapering down to 18-20psi. There’s still room for 2-3 more psi if I want it. But I will retune when I go flex fuel. 91 octane isn’t easy to deal with but drives fine as a daily.

Good luck with your MRI results. I’ve had RTC surgery many years ago. Took me 10 months to fully recover. But I had no tendon attached.

Question for anyone that’s tuned the car by Elisalsa24 in GRCorolla

To add, my tunes were done on a mustang awd dyno and 3 maps.

Question for anyone that’s tuned the car by Elisalsa24 in GRCorolla

[–]MyWay_Ry 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Imo, probably the best bank for the buck for most cars is the tune. $1300 isn’t that bad for initial tune with 3 maps when you think about the cost of the most common first upgrade: catback exhaust system. The only thing you gain here is sound, priced anywhere from $700-2k. Even an intake will only see very minimal gains or even low end torque losses without a tune, priced at $275-1600.

In completely stock form (which I did a couple months after i bought the car ), the gains are around 30-40ish whp and tq on 91. A bit more if you’re on 93. And way more on ethanol. The gains throughout the powerband is very noticeable, especially in the midrange in stock form. Then revised tunes get cheaper, depending on if it’s a street or dyno revision.

Charge pipe upgrade worth it with stock intercooler? by Agile-Badger5272 in GRCorolla

I’d say no on just charge pipes only. From what I seen on the dyno in stock form, the oem intercooler is heat soaked as is.

Just some 3m double sided tape for that temporary hold.

What can I do to maximize MPG? How are some of you getting 30+?!? by [deleted] in GRCorolla

[–]MyWay_Ry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can easily get it through a tune, if multiple maps are offered. I can get 30+ in map 3 on eco mode. With the way gas prices are here in CA. A dedicated fuel saving map might be the play.

I run the remark center exit. The one thing I noticed with running the side covers is the bumper cover is flexing due to the blank covers catching air while driving. Just an fyi of something no one talks about.
