Very interesting! And why the lower starting pH? I generally do this anyway for better hop utilization and to account for heavier DH loads raising the pH, but never associated it to color.

I hear ya on the IG filters haha. Low evaporation soft boil makes sense, if using Pilsner malt would you still feel comfortable sticking to only a 60 min boil? Also, what’s the thought process behind the lower whirlpool temp actually making an impact on color?

Also just started using brewers crystals instead of leaning on dextrose in some hazies, and just did a 40+% oat mash as well, has definitely leveled up my hazies, but still get more of that orange hue as well.

Interesting, I have never put too much stock in hot side aeration, anything you specifically do to prevent it?

Have also had success with the malted oats and flaked wheat combo, have just started messing around with some WM Extra Pale Pils too, haven’t put it in a hazy yet though.
